I have noticed several cars where I live that have their stereos blasting through a PA horn hidden behind the grill on the front of the car. I'm sorry but this has to be the most stupid trend I have ever seen! I have never been a fan of the Donk's, Box's and Bubbles but I can appreciate the amount of time and money invested in them. This trend however makes no sense to me! Is it because they can't afford a stereo loud enough to be heard from inside the car?? It sounds horrible! Is anyone else seeing cars like this?

Some of the kids around our neck of the woods have such big sub-woofers and powerful amps installed in their cars that I can hear and feel the sound in my house in the winter with the windows and doors shut...I guess they belong to the "future hearing aids" club of America. I guess PA speakers is just the next evolution in this trend.

As long as the PA speaker is way up front, just behind the grill. Close enough for a tire iron to reach. :rolleyes:B)

wouldn't it be great if there were laws in place to stop noise pollution... oh... there are. just zero enforcement.

in states with mandatory vehicle inspections, they can force you to remove "unauthorized lighting and PA speakers"....

but, then there'd be the civil liberty guys sounding off.

you can't enforce good manners or good sense.

Around here the kids TRIED to put those flourecent lights under the cars a few years ago, an NOPE, the cops were on them like that color comin out from under their cars! They watch how tall those stupid monster tires get too. Too big and they get a ticket. Now if they could just get the Hummers and Excursions off the road. NO need for a vehicle that wide OR large. Get a bus fer petes sake.

I like loud music as much as the next guy, but as long as I can hear it inside my car, why does it need to be heard OUTSIDE of it.

As far as enforcing laws, I got pulled over Friday morning for my exhaust. It's a Borla system, it's supposed to have a rumble, and then he proceeds to tell me the tint on my doors is illegal. Why not worry about the people out there REALLY doing something wrong and not me who goes to work every day to take care of my family, not out breaking the law (anymore).

I hear you there.

I think they come after the working guy because they know we will pay the tickets. If they went after the real bad ass people it would be more work and usually nothing comes out of it.

He was really cool about it, just a warning.

My brother was nearly killed by a guy with tinted windows who "didn't see him".

Didn't see him? That's just an excuse for stupidity. I can see through my windows just as well as if they weren't tinted. On top of that, the lenses on my prescription eyeglasses have a tint because the sun really bothers my eyes most days (and headlights at night). The tint really helps with the glare. I drive for a living, so anything that can affect my vision really puts my job in jeopardy.

Tinted windows (aftermarket) are illegal not for any driver safety issues, but because the cops can't see inside the vehicle if they pull you over. I can see their point... if the guy the cop just pulled over is sitting there with a pistol in his hand, the cop might want to able to see that and act accordingly.

Understood Harry, but with a script from my eye doc I can legally have them tinted. I make it a habit to have my window open before the cop even gets out of his car in the event that I do get pulled over.

In the 2 months I've had the car I've passed MANY cops that have said nothing about them. I think he said something just because he already had me pulled over for my exhaust.

Different states have different laws. In some cases they have what I think are called "secondary" laws, where the cop can only cite you if he's already pulled you over for a more serious offense, like speeding. Here where I live, you're technically supposed to have a front license plate, but I'm pretty sure they can't pull you over if you don't have one... they can only cite you for no front plate if you're already pulled over for something else. Maybe tinted glass is also one of those types of things in some states.
