Talking about bugs...did anyone read in the new issu of Hot Rod

the reconstruction of the original lightning bug? interesting.

I grew up watching the former lightning bug racing in Puerto Rico

under Diego Febles care. Good memories of that classic gasser.

Just for those fellas who may not be all that into gassers, just want to clarify 2 of the cars in Len's post above... The Rollin Stoned Camaro and the Revell Jungle Jim car are not Gassers! And the gorgeous blond? Well I sincerely HOPE she's not a "Gasser!" LOL

Cool car indeed, but not a Gasser....it's an Altered. Not being picky...it's just that this thread is supposed to be about Gasser Inspiration and I just wanted to make sure someone who might build this car doesn't make the mistake of calling it a Gasser... :o)

Heres a link to one of my favorites. The High and Mighty 49 Plymouth by the famous Ramchargers.

If you wanna see some cool old true gassers actually running for some inspiration...look at these youtube videos! A few of the cars are from my old track where I worked...Connecticut Dragway! And BTW...the above car, The High and Mighty, is shown running at 4:14 in the video timeline!

And the second...another excellent video!

Here are shots of my daily driver. Bought the car in 1964 for $75 finally got it on the road in 1995! Has 354 hemi, '54 4-speed Hydro, '56 Olds rear end, all the old parts. I did all the work except chrome plating and upholstery. Oh and I made a fiberglass front end from the original sheet metal. See the story here. http://www.hotrodders.com/projects/001/01.html

Wow. That is a really beautiful ride Jeff. Love it. Like the write-up too.

May have to do a model based on it...

Thanks for sharing. KB
