Tonioseven Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I'm right around 200 kits (I think) now I'm just on the hunt for the grails that have eluded me over the years. I have almost all of them so I've cut my buying down to only what I will seriously build. I DO keep a nice, long eBay watch list though!! Once we move into the larger place with a GARAGE I'll probably trim the herd down some more and focus on all of these ideas in my head. I WILL own and build a Johan Chrysler 300 one day without selling my firstborn!

kenb Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I'm at about 350+ kits now. My biggest problem (if you call it a problem) is when I'm ready to build something from my stash, I get this funny feeling and go out and buy another one to build. I need to start building from what I have. Ken
DaveM Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I am thinning out my 35 year collection. Too many kits, and not enough years left to build them all. I will probably sell off a few hundred of them, along with a bunch of other things over then next year or so. Then I will use the space I have made to set up the slot car track that is sitting in storage!
RodneyBad Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 What year Tonio? It must be the Best yr. 1966 Chrysler 300.. Not the easiest or cheapest to find either..
peekay Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I may be 15 but I'm stocking up on kits for that golden word "Retirement" I here all these stories from vets or other people saying that it is the most boring thing they have everdone.Thats gonna change for me. I'm really enjoying my (early) retirement - it was WORK that was boring. But I wish I'd had the foresight to stock up on kits for retirement when I was 15. Now they're collector items and cost 50 times what they did then.
Tonioseven Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 What year Tonio? '66 through '68; preferably a '68.
heatride Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Actually glad to see this thread. I am just getting back into the hobby after almost 30 years . And I bought 2 kits then 3 more where does it end ? But then again I am old so maybe I have a excuse On a serious note I am retired also thats why I have time to do this again , and just in case someone wants to know , Nope I DO NOT miss the workplace .
LAone Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 i like these threads. pretty cool to see how many people collect kits. i dont know how many i have in my collection, but its not in the triple digits, i think..lols well my wife hasn't told me to stop buying, so i guess its not to many just yet.. after this weekend, i will know how many kits i actually own.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Prolly couldn't see where he was going! Between that, what he was thinking, and what was in his pants, that's probably right!!
Johnag4004 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 (edited) I love this thread, Andy C has the right idea too, start collecting now, you never know what life will bring you, if I'd of had the foresight before I had my accident I would have done the same, mind saying that living in Military barracks I would have been stuck for storing them, I now have the grand total of 4 kits in my collection and with things being tight I'll build them before I get anymore, gives me time to save to buy some more... Model kits are like an old bottle of wine or whiskey etc, they get better with age... Edited December 15, 2011 by Johnag4004
wgflatliner Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 My problem is not within the subject but rather a variation of the question. How many projects are too many?
martinfan5 Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 (edited) I guess I am the odd one here, but I buy it and build it, I have right now 14 kits waiting to be built, but I am always adding more kits every week or so. I would like to build up a stash and slowly working on it. There are a lot of kits i did when I was younger, in my teens that I want to kit again an build them the right way . So lucky for me those kits are not too pricey right now Edited December 16, 2011 by martinfan5
