Anyone know where I can find a donor kit that has a big block ford engine (429-460)? I've heard the early 1990's ford f350 or certain years of Torino. I'd like a standard big block not a boss, ive got a # of those.

Revell '70 Torino has a 429, and the Monogram F 350 is a 460- both are 385-series big blocks. The Torino is 1:25 scale while the truck is 1:24. Depending on what vehicle you plan to use with the engine, you might need to do some up/back dating to get the engine to look right.

FE is the legendary big block that started life in '58 as a 332, and eventually evolved into the 428, with branches becoming the SOHC and 427 sideoiler. it was the natural evolution of the Y-block that it replaced. the 385 series took it's place as the preferred torque powerhouse for trucks and fullsize cars, with the larger muscle cars getting their own versions. all FE's look more or less alike; no other Ford engine looks quite like a 385 series. the recent Revell Torino engine is a beauty.

The Revell Torino seems like the best place to start. I need to round up a few 429/460s to use w/ '70 Galaxie, '71 Galaxie and '78 LTD builds...though w the '78 I might use a 351 instead.

Would anybody happen to pics of these different engines?

Photos of the model parts or real engines? I have 3 of the real engines in my garage. One short block, one bare block on a stand, and one assembled long block and a C6 trans (accessories removed/carburetor manifold)

So the Parts pack 428 would be essentially the same as a 1958 332? That is one of the engines available in the Ford C series I have had trouble tracking down, so if that is true then great news.

Well.... you could probably pass it off as a 332, but keep in mind the 427 had a taller deck, and was thus also slightly wider. If I wanted to replicate a 332 I'd probably start with the Starliner 352 from the '60 AMT kit. Then you'd just need to work out the heavy-truck specific stuff like the oil filter, engine-driven accessories, etc. The AMT 352 is also better detailed and a bit less fiddly to assemble than the Revell 427.
