W-409 Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 Any resin kits or bodies cast from 1974 Chevelle? Would be really nice Stocker, and I'd like to build it. If you have seen any of them, please let me know.
Repstock Posted December 24, 2011 Posted December 24, 2011 I've been working on a model of that body style, but it's too late to cast it.
bandit1 Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 what do you mean its to late to cast it?....i would love to build one of those myself!...im tired of seeing 38-70 chevelle kits!
CorvairJim Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 That bronze coupe is a thing of beauty! What chassis/interior are you planning on using under it? To paraphrase "Field Of Dreams": If you cast it, they will come. You can put me down for one too, and if you decide to do it in any other body styles other than the coupe, put me down for a wagon and an El Camino too. I once owned a '73 Laguna wagon that I loved to use to terrorize the local Fords with. It was our family car but it was running a tweaked 4-barrel 400 V-8, true dual exhaust, a Turbo 400 with a shift kit and high stall converter, and a posi rear.
W-409 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 So I can guess, that there's no resin kits. Your project looks good, really sad that it's too late to cast... I would love to have one. Maybe needs to continue looking for good bodies for "easy" conversion...?
W-409 Posted December 25, 2011 Author Posted December 25, 2011 Hey, what's this?! Looks like '74 Chevelle, but what it really is?
Greg Wann Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 Having it painted does not make it too late to cast. The paint won't stick to the silicone and get pulled off the body. There is a chance the body will break upon removing it from the master mold where you have glued it together.
Steven Zimmerman Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 I would purchase SEVERAL of these, if cast.... I know RACE MOTOR REPLICAS is looking for a master of this to cast....
Chuck Most Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Having it painted does not make it too late to cast. The paint won't stick to the silicone and get pulled off the body. There is a chance the body will break upon removing it from the master mold where you have glued it together. That's true- but maybe that's an old WIP photo and it's closer to finished now. Even if not, I'd hate to have to repair and repaint it after it was damaged having a mold pulled from it.
Steven Zimmerman Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 You owe it to the great unwashed masses to cast it ....(GRIN)
W-409 Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 How about this kit, what's inside the box? If anyone has it, Please let me know, is the body good quality, and how does that front and rear end look like. http://www.ebay.com/itm/MODEL-KING-1973-74-MALIBU-CHEVELLE-SUPER-STOCKER-/370536413801?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5645b0fa69

bandit1 Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 somebody master one & i will cast it...in the future it is possible 1 of my guys will make me 1 get me a kit and ill do it kevin?
W-409 Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 It would be Great thing to have Resin kit of this. I've been thinking about making one Chevelle from that Oval Tracker, but it's quite large conversion. The Body of course, then the engine bay, interior and chassis too.
kevin Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 get me a kit and ill do it kevin? i will see about diggin 1 up!
ChrisPflug Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Correct chassis and interior for a curbside are already there in the Revell '77 Monte The NASCAR rear wheelwells look like they could be used as a basis for stock front openings
realgone58 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Wagon wagon wagon!!! Think of the possibilities, Olds version, Buick version, Pontiac version...........taxis, public service, stock, drag, demo, drag..................oh man!!!! (Was a kid in the '70s, can't help it.)
jeffb Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 i will see about diggin 1 up! theres one upstairs and one in my office....
ChrisPflug Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Would hate to guess a specific caster from am ebay pic- basically a copy of the the MPC 75 Laguna (also released in the "Cannonball Run" series as the Hawaiian Tropic car)
kevin Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 theres one upstairs and one in my office.... i know
Rob Hall Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Other than the race car kits, it's too bad a '73-74 Chevelle was never kitted....it would be fun to make a model replica of the car in 'Drive'..
montelsc Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Heres what the laguna looks like after the conversion i didnt work the frt wheel wells though
gray07 Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Cool car Montel, we need a resin copy of that.
montelsc Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Heres the kit i used the chassis.interior and windsheild is from the 77 monte carlo the hood still opens so i still have the option to put an engine in I also did this with a 73 monte carlo i was not to happy with the results though
Bridgebuster Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Unless I'm badly mistaken (which is always a distinct possibility with me) there was a 73 kitted. I've got an AMT #3688 that's a 73, I believe. Can go put my hands on it if I need to. I'd be willing to send to a reputable and talented caster I don't know much about casting, but if the master I send has to be kept, I'd like a couple of castings in return. LMK.
