martinfan5 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Count me in, is it our pick for the car?
kratvmnd Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Ooohh...I have the perfect car for that..the Revell Corvette C5R Endurance racer. Too bad it's been slightly started! Some of the roll cage and part of the engine has been painted.I'll take a pit penalty if I can join in with that...
Greg Pugh Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Gosh, I can't get the body worked over in 24 hours.......
bigphoto Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 I will be there several club members get together it is a hoot!
Wildrice Posted December 27, 2011 Author Posted December 27, 2011 It has to be an unstarted build. Pick whatever u want to build. No snap kits. Body has to be painted. If you want to join email me a pick of what ur building, name and location and a link to where u will be posting update pics during the build. We start at noon eastern time on Sat Jan 28th and build til noon on Sun Jan 29th. I have 3 guy poss 5 coming to my house to build. Its a blast.
Rob McKee Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Count me in, I just have to decide what I want to build. Off to the stash I go.
Terry Sumner Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Sounds like a food dehydrator would be a necessity in this endeavor...and quick drying lacquer paints or two part catalyzed automotive paints!
Rob McKee Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 You sure don't want to use model master enamel.
Wildrice Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 I have two dehydrators that we use. Im using nail polish on my 24hr Build. Custom two tone. If u are going in make sure you send me a pic of what ur building and all other info. I will pass it on so u can be listed on Gary Kulchock's Fotki site.
Terry Sumner Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Do you guys literally build all night? I mean...no sleep?
Wildrice Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Yes Terry we build all night with no sleep. Just throw on some car movies and build. Time flies by.
diymirage Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 mhhh very interesting ill have to give it proper thought
Wildrice Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 Anyone going to join in on the fun? Its a blast.
Guest Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) Gosh, I can't get the body worked over in 24 hours....... Neither can I. My small brain just can't wrap around the concept of building a model in 24 hours. I might could do it in three eight hour shifts. I would like to give it a try just to see if I could do it. Does the model have to be fresh from the box with zero prep or is prep work allowed? I can't get all of the mold lines sanded off in 24 hours. Edited January 4, 2012 by plowboy
Terry Sumner Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I'm thinking seriously about it. Do you guys kind of stay online for 24 hours and post in-progress photos too?
Rob McKee Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Alrighty then, I am in with a Revell McDonald's Firebirde funny car. I maybe nuts to try and build this kit in 24 hours but it should be fun. Besides I picked this kit up yesterday for $10, so nothing to loose. Of course this will be built box stock. Maybe I'll add wires to the engine. Rob
Dr. Cranky Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I've always enjoyed these 24 hour build threads . . . great going, and I can't wait to see how it shapes up.
heatride Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I can't even get the shrink rap off the box in 24 hours . That is pretty amazing , and I sure would like to see some pics..
BOSWELL891 Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Im going to join this build since i got the perfect kit for it today. The model king Vintage Dirt Modified double kit, im going to be building one of the cars from the kit.
