  1. I use leather from an old wallet or handbag you can usually find at a thrift store. It's thin enough to stretch and wrap around the seat. Start in the center with a little glue and work your way around the back. I use GOOP shoe glue.

    '56 Chevy

I would have done it a little more accurate..but it was a replica of someone's car.
  3. Thanks guys. In the last pic the windows weren't in yet.
  4. My first NASCAR kit. Needed a change of pace and this was a lot of fun.
  5. Nicely done. And I love the blonde in the background...
  6. Thanks everyone. This ones not complete(missing mirrors, some trim, wrong wheels, etc.) but it's finished..next one will have a more '60's style wheel combo and be a little lighter shade of green, and be a 4-door.
  7. Haven't been on in awhile, so here's one to start with. This is a practice run before I build my Modelhaus 4-door version of how I want my 1:1 car to look like. Paint is a custom mix. Other than that it's basically a curbside, interior is all black, no engine detail. Thanks for looking. More to come soon.
  8. It should work fine with a little practice. Check the fancy paper displays also,as they often have a selection of velvety paper that works great(it's similar in texture to the red velvet Christmas bows, for example). I've used cheap wallet linings, fake leather handbags,etc.-those can always be found cheap at thrift stores. Most of these materials can be painted also,so look for a light color. Here's a couple examples...
  9. I've been keeping an eye out for this kit,so I'll be checking this out for sure. Can't wait to see what you do with it,as I have the Heller Delahaye Bonneville in waiting, which is somewhat similar to this.Show me the way!
  10. Maybe the chassis from the Revell(?) '90 Grand Prix would be a good fit. I don't know if it is 24th or 25th scale though.
  11. OK,finally got a starting point. This is an Aoshima Nissan Cedric/Gloria 330. This is a curbside kit with a basic chassis,I may end up swapping to a different chassis so it can be more detailed(?). Pretty nice kit other than that... ...now,here's where I throw you off a little, some mis-wired part of my brain has always thought these would lend themselves well to being built as a '60s style custom. Mild top chop, maybe a slight section, shaved moldings and emblems,tuck-n-roll interior, new trim, reworked front and rear grills/bumpers/lights,topped off with a satin/suede paint job and some whitewalls. I'm not sure yet if it will be "period correct" or more of a modern/retro look. Anyway, here's what I'm starting with-let the fun begin!
  12. Hey guys, just checking in,you haven't lost me. I was hoping to have my kit before the weekend. It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow,so I'll be joining in soon.Good work so far! Also, I was just thinking that it's pretty cool that the builds are all unrelated-totally different makes and models built in unrelated styles-should make for some interesting work!
  13. Try doing a search for reviews of the kit,as a lot of times they will have photos of instruction sheets also. Some sellers(e-hobbies?,HLJ?) often show parts trees and instructions also. I often will check auction sites to see what a kit consists of because the kits are usually are open and have decent pictures of the contents. Hope this may be of help..
  14. In the picture of the Camaro, there is a ruler propped up with a measuring tape, just looked kinda funny that's all.
  15. Tommy,I think your next purchase should be a new "measuring tool"... (with the 1/12 Camaro,so I don't have to repost it all again)
  16. Funny,I was just thinking about this very topic. I work 9am-9pm five days a week and have to paint outside in the unpredictable Vermont weather. So when the moon, sun, and stars all line up properly, I try to get as much priming and painting done as I can. Then I can spend the winter doing detail work and assembly. I have 5 or 6 bodies finished and about 8-10 kits in primer still on the trees so at least I can do some clean-up and prep work when the mood strikes. This weekend looks like it could be sunny and 68-75 degrees,so I may have another shot at getting "stocked up". It's tough to do it like that but it's hard to start on something in November knowing that you can't paint til' spring. When I tell people I need a garage, they say "You mean a house WITH a garage?". No,just a garage with a couch and a TV..
  17. Nicely done. I have a couple of those kits(Bugatti and Alfa Romeo) and they do look like they would build up nicely for what they are. You've proven that here,it looks great!
  18. I'm waiting on my kit to arrive, but it will be a '76-'79 Nissan 330 Cedric. I should be able to get started early next week.
  19. That's the car I was thinking of too. Like you said-similar roof, doors, swivel seats, same color-it even has a similar story,as it was found in a scrapyard and pieced together fairly recently. That did have a hideous front end though, but the rest of the car was quite striking. Can't wait to see this come together, should be fun!
  20. My gut says XP-37..?? What do I win?!? I don't recall much about what the front end looked like though. I have always loved this as it is Corvair-ish. I have been wanting to try this one for awhile now,so hopefully I'm right..don't keep us waiting too long!
  21. One that's always worked great is a piece of nylon rubber banded around the end of a vacuum hose. Sometimes you'll find parts you never knew were missing..
  22. When I saw this topic, I quickly left the site. About five minutes later I had a kit ordered that I have been waiting for an excuse to buy/build.(I'll keep you in suspense until it arrives-about a week). Sign me up! One suggestion though-due to the short notice on the start date, and the fact that Thanksgiving and Christmas (vacation/travel holidays) fall within the relatively short start/end dates,it may benefit to extend it a little further, maybe the END of January. I know in my case,(and I imagine a lot of you too) I don't get much building done between Thanksgiving and New Years. Just a thought.. Either way,I will be joining in,I'll let you know what it will be when it arrives.
  23. Great concept! I love cars that are built using ideas and techniques from a different period that normally would not be used on that style car. Good start, keep it up!
  24. I believe it's a Pondiabloreanghini. No one has ever tried to replicate one,so this may be the only one.
