The Modeling Hermit Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 This is my last build of 2011. It's a 62 El Camino.
bbowser Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 That's pretty cool (no pun intended)! I didn't know they made El Caminos in '62?
Haubenschild Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Nice! , i love the chrome and the backdrop is killer!
CorvairJim Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Nicely done! I'm going to have to try one of these - I like Elkys and have a '66 Corvair version in the works at the moment myself. (Maybe I'll base mine on one of the Lindberg '61 Impalas I have lying around, just to be different from yours... )
rmvw guy Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Nice " what if " looks like it may have come out of a 1962 ad with the background, almost. I bet they would have sold quite a few. Nicely done!
Janne Herajärvi Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Very nice build and your photo booth background looks also nice
Dominik Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Nice built, cool idea. Wished, you could make some pictures from the bed, looks interesting.
Guest Johnny Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 My wife's uncle retired from Fisher Body. He had a book like a scrap type book that contained things I have never seen anywhere before! Artists sketches and detailed drawings of prototype cars and trucks. He showed me one he said was actually built before GM killed it. First were the designers hand drawn sketches and drawings the pictures of the prototype vehicle which was a 1961 ElCamino!!! He said they crushed it just shortly after the pictures were taken! Been trying to get hold of his son to see if I can get some pictures. (copies) I have a suspicion that book was not supposed to leave the offices at Fisher Body!
The Modeling Hermit Posted January 8, 2012 Author Posted January 8, 2012 Nice built, cool idea. Wished, you could make some pictures from the bed, looks interesting. Dominik. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. The rear of the top and the bed are simply cut from the 65 El Camino. Thanks to all that gave feedback on this one. The posting was done "tongue in cheek" just to see how many wouldn't catch that it was a phantom.
my66s55 Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Nice job. The color looks real close to a 62 hardtop I bought in 66. I think it was called fawn.
