it comes in 7 oz and 13 oz.

$6 for 7 oz and $8 for 13 oz

so of course i'd get the 13 oz

twice as much for $2 more

i'll be painting with Paasche EZ-Starter airbrush and

Testor's Acrylics

is the 13 oz plenty of air to paint a 1/25 model kit?

Happy New Years!

Actually, I had pretty good results using the Propel. I have since discovered DupliColor though, and won't go back to air in a can. When I decide to "airbrush" again I will buy a compressor.

Propel works in a pinch, but like was mentioned, for the price of just a few cans you can get a compressor. 13 oz SHOULD be enough for a 1/25 kit.....but what if its not? A compressor won't run out.

When using Propel, have the can sitting in a shallow bowl of warm water. It keeps the can from "freezing" while spraying and you'll have less of a chance of losing pressure halfway through the project and messing up a paint job.

Propel cans are worthless. Invest in a decent compressor, it'll pay for itself in weeks compared to the cost of propel cans.

What he said.

Buy a compressor and you pay for it once. And you never run out of compressed air. The cost of the canned air adds up real fast.

Bob,

if you must use the propel, heres a tip; set the can of propel in a pan of hot tap water while you spray. This helps keep the pressure up inside the can.

As you use the propel, it starts to build-up frost around the top of the can, this frosting reduses pressure in the can, and your airbrush will just be spitting paint.

Just do yourself a favor, and invest in a compressor if you plan on doing much airbrushing.

the issue for many is that initial investment cost into buying a compressor and the regulator and water trap. like i mentioned, i don't know what Harbor Freight has as far as hobby compressors, i think everything in the store is cheap garbage so i don't shop there. most good hobby compressors are right around what, $100 or so to get started? for those on a limited income that may be something that keeps them from buying a compressor, not everyone here or in this hobby has a lot of extra money. i agree that once you've got a compressor those cans seem even more of a waste but i can relate in that i was there before where i didn't have one and i really wasn't in the position to step up and buy one.

the point is here that the compressed air cans DO work if that's all you have available. are they as good as a compressor? no, they arent but they will get the job done if you don't have one.

If a person is that hard up for cash that they can't afford a hundred bucks, I can't justify wasting 6-8 bucks a can for compressed air.

I think a better idea would be to use aerosol spray paint for the time being, and start saving up for that compressor ASAP. Every dollar spent on a can of compressed air is a dollar wasted, IMO. Those dollars could instead go towards that compressor fund.

When I first got my airbrush I too used the cans of Propel.

Use Warm NOT Hot water. I had the propel come out in Liquid form and Mix into the

paint when the water was too warm. Yes it Does increase the preasure that much!

I had to strip the paint. Lucky for me it was wet & mostly wiped off. and too it was only

an HO scael truck cab body and Not a 1/25 scale build.

I think I have a couple cans that I bought when W-M was clearancing all kit stuff.

I do have a Powerpal compressor, but need the adapter to use it with my airbrushes.
