oldscool Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Anybody get this kit yet? I got mine today and the body is not so good. The edges are paper thin and the rear wheel openings are pretty much ruined. In fact, the entire body is very thin and flexible with a strange surface texture that looks like it's full of tiny pits. The chrome plating is very thick also. The up side is that it is free of warpage. I know it's an old tool and I wasn't expecting perfection, but it's a long way from the Mongoose Duster that they released a few months ago. That one was very clean and flash free with very nice plating. The Vega is loaded with flash. I don't complain much about Revell kits as the recent releases have been excellent but this one is a disappointment. Any one else see these issues or did I just get a bum body. gus
Gregg Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 I thought I posted the pics when I got it a while ago. My copy was fine. Give a shout to Revell and see what they say. I know they have a parts replacement option on their site, but this is a defect.

Swifster Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Tell me there is a figure of Jungle Pam somewhere in that kit...
Casey Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Tell me there is a figure of Jungle Pam somewhere in that kit... No, you need the Monza kit for that figure. I agree with Gregg- sounds like a defective body for sure. I'm sure Revell will send a replacement.
oldscool Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 OK, so I got my replacement body from Revell and it is exactly the same as the original one - paper thin and short shot around the rear wheel openings . I guess this one won't get built for awhile. The body mold appears to be shot for this kit.
DON-T2 Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I picked one up the other day and was very dissapointed at the amount of flash on both the chrome and unchromed parts especially the frame. I'll need to check out the body and see what shape it is in.
Bruno Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I am currently building this kit, and mine is the same as yours, the body is thin, but straight. Lots of mold lines and flash to clean, ejector pin marks to fill and sand, chrome is very thick, I stripped most of the chrome tree. However the decal sheet is awesome, and the tires are nice too. This kit needs a lot of work to make a nice model. Still, I am happy that Revell re-released this one.
Rob McKee Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 My kit wasn't perfect but it sure soesn't sound like the mess you got. I would call revell and have them send you a replacement. The only issue I have and others I know of is the fit of the rear and front pieces. Takes a little work but it comes out OK with some patience.
