I have a question.

And this would be for anybody to answer should they like.

How would y'all create an elephant skull?

And would you guys know where I can find a turbine engine?

Does anyone know of a good source for window mesh supplys ?

I use aluminum window screen. You can buy a HUGE roll of it at wallyword for like 8 or 9 bucks.

Takes primer coats and paints REALLY well.

I'm wondering the same thing about bull skulls, actually.

The new Deluxe Batmobile kit comes with an optional turbine- you could probably find an aircraft kit with a usable unit too.

I actually found like a knitting or crochet mesh sheet that measures 10.5in by 13.5in and looks like it would be pretty good for scales 1/24 up to 1/35 and other similar scale ranges. Each sheet costs like 99cents at Michaels. They are fairly sturdy, yet flexible enough to easily work with. Try combing through your local art supply store, I did this the other weekend and have found a lot of great material that I am hoping to use on my build (whenever my model gets here). I found that there are all sorts of small trinkets and materials that other hobbies use that can be made into something for modeling, especially this kind of build.

Bridal Tulle is good as well. Looks like chain link, and $4 buys enough to last for several apocalypses er apocalyi, er a whole bunch of disasters............

Oh man, that's awesome!!! You're making me want one! The only one I've seen before is resin...big $$, I didn't see it ,but what's the price on that??

Ok...

I TRIED the whole sunlight pics, further away from the subject, and pre-upload cropping. Not even MY abilities with digital art could save these pics.

BUT.

I'll let you see them anyways.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I'm currently prepping a diorama for that vehicle, one of several actually... (gotta give visual representations of my journal entries somehow! :P )

And prepping myself for a new kit to work on.

I can't just stop at one! :D

Try sculptors active wire mesh. You can find it as a craft store like Michaels in the sculpting aisle. Not expensive and as you can see, comes in more than one size.

Yeah Virgil, the Gunslinger was an incredible first for me. It was the first time I decided to not only think outside the box, but to then put said box under the rear tire and hit the gas. It was my first weathering job and it had a lot of scratchbuilding too. I learned an awful lot doing it.

I've been kicking this around for a while now Doc and I think I'm going to sit this one out. I have a lot of other builds in the works or in the "coming soon!" planning stage. I have done two post apoc builds now counting my Gunslinger and Cherry 2000 Mustang replica and my Spartan Deathracer as well. I'm just not feeling that itch to build another. Maybe next time.
