1 bad55 stan Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Sweet build mate, looks frigin awesome,i love the bed too!
mrm Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Stan, Paul, thank you guys. I attached the rear end to the chassis and hooked up the brake line to the cross member. put pro tech lines on the front brakes. it is weird that the Revell '32 Fords are made with bottom feed thanks. A quick search showed me that thanks like these have external pumps or at least fuel filters on the lines. These were made with pro tech line, diodes and drilled bolt heads. Starter, oil filter and exhaust manifolds were attached. aaaaannd…we have a dipstick…. …and ac lines measurements taken for the radiator hose
mrm Posted May 11, 2014 Author Posted May 11, 2014 Worked on the exhaust and some suspension all night. F1 started at 5:30am, so I figured out I'll pull an "all nighter". Machined me some nice mufflers. The front section is solder, the mufflers are turned aluminum and the rear part is aluminum tubing. Kept everything very, very simple. I could go all out and route the exhaust to go all the way back and machine some tips, but then I thought about it and decided it would have been pointless.
mrm Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 (edited) Thank you both. I machined the rear shocks and used red anodized jewelry wire for the springs. Drilled the shocks and some bolt heads and used brass rod for mounting everything. now each shock is made of 8 pieces And everything mounted and painted. All the front suspension parts painted and ready to be installed The body curtains were painted with antique gold. I kinda drybrushed it on so it is not solid. It creates this old used kind of feel to the color. Edited May 12, 2014 by mrm
mrm Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Just had some fun with dry transfers and made the side windows. I had to make new "glass" because the original no longer fits, since the rear was slightly stretched and gradually widened on the bottom. Looks pretty cool I think. Once installed you won't be able see the black on the signs, but I know they are there
mrm Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 Dave, Fred, thank you. Started fitting the hoods. The top one is not even polished yet, but everything seems to fit just fine. It will be pretty much done tonight. The only thing that is slowing me down is that I need to order a grille from MCG and some fittings for the radiator hose.
JTalmage Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Love it! If this had been a kit I saw in the store... I'd buy a few of em... really like what youve done.
Ramfins59 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Michael, this looks just wonderful. Your details throughout the car are first rate.
cartpix Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 I'll hold on posting, my comments, until the under glass thread. I can't wait... WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!! This build is so cool.
charlie8575 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Very nice lettering work. Great work otherwise, too. Charlie Larkin.
mrm Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 Thank you guys. I am waiting on some photoetched grilles and aluminum fittings to finish this model.
mnwildpunk Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I would love for my final ride to be in something like this
mrm Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Sorry for the long interruption, but I'm back now. My dad came to visit from Europe and we had a road trip. Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, SoCal….Now I have to rush the models I like to finish. I got my fittings and braided line I was waiting for and the radiator hose is done. This pretty much concludes the engine bay, save for some turned aluminum caps. Since the front grille will be open (photoetched) I needed to make a radiator behind it. Detail Master to the rescue. The Model Car Garage grille was painted black and its frame was polished. The radiator surface was glued to gunmetal painted grille shell. I left areas uneven to simulate a used radiator The painted grille had its frame glued to it
1 bad55 stan Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 this is just awesome,your work is...well simple stunning.
mrm Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Thank you Stan. What the grille looks like To attach the side windows, I cut some pins then used them as studs to hold the windows in the frames Then painted the pinheads black to make everything subtle. The rear windows received gold BMF frames
charlie8575 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Excellent work on this. One of, if not the best, custom hearse I've seen. Charlie Larkin
