Old Sprinter Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Bart; I think you have got the perfect stance and shape, now. Great work.
eviltwincustoms Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Bart; I think you have got the perfect stance and shape, now. Great work. Thanks Ken, is is slowly taking shape... Actually I just cut some more on the wedge and took out a scale 1.368" in the front of the rocker wedge (behind the front tire) and another scale 3.184" in the back. This brings the side right in alignment with the Real 1:1 body dimensions, that I am working off of and will lower the body a bit more over the wheels like it should be. Once I get some more free time, I will need to take some out of the front nose section to make sure I have my required 3" ground clearance requirement in front of the wheel and the 2" behind the front wheel after the adjustments I made to the body again. futurattraction Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Thanks Scott! I know I am getting old when I lose track if I have replied to all of my emails.. Scott, do I owe you any follow up items from our discussions on 1/16th parts? I think we're good, as far as I remember, but then that's testing my memory, too! LOL
stump Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Bart, this is shaping up very very nicely. I had (have ?) grand plans for doing something similar....Like I need more fresh ideas, yeah. The latest tweaks to the nose and front fenders is getting pretty close to what is raced IMHO, GREAT work mate.
Prostreet Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 NICE WORK BUT HONESTLY IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A PROMOD VETTE Uhh, It's not done yet , No need to shout
eviltwincustoms Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Body is looking good. Bart, this is shaping up very very nicely. I had (have ?) grand plans for doing something similar....Like I need more fresh ideas, yeah. The latest tweaks to the nose and front fenders is getting pretty close to what is raced IMHO, GREAT work mate. Derrick, Greg thanks for the praise it does have quite a ways to go and it still looks a bit funny with the wedge the way the last picture is taken. I have made some slight but positive changes to the wedge and the front leading edge of that wheel well... The funny thing is that based on a 90 degree it is straight up and down, but yet in the picture it looks like it angles forward. A unique optical illusion, I would guess so I have tweaked the front edge outward to make it look like it is straighter. I am sure you both have been around a Pro Mod Vette or two.... any suggestions on the A-Pillar and how to go about reshaping the front facing part?
eviltwincustoms Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 NICE WORK BUT HONESTLY IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A PROMOD VETTE Uhh, It's not done yet , No need to shout Thanks Joe, that is ok everyone is definitely entitled to their opinion. It is a shame that someone would say a project that isn't completed doesn't look like something when they aren't aware just how much time and effort someone has put into a project just to get it to this point. "THEMAN", I appreciate you being honest and providing your feedback on the project that isn't even 1/2 completed. However if you would like to be more of a PRODUCTIVE part of the forum and not only help myself but others as well. I would suggest that when you provide feedback, and you feel something doesn't look like what you think it should look like, maybe you should ask the person or provide what you think needs to be changed. How is anyone suppose to learn from their mistakes, not saying that I have made any at this point... Unless I am not aware of them, and no one has spoken up... if this isn't the case. PLEASE feel free to speak up! You won't hurt my feelings. I unfortunately, don't have the opportunity to work on my projects as often as I would like due to traveling for work and have not had the opportunity to provide any further updates or work on my next modifications to the body.
eviltwincustoms Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 Hey fellas, I have been lurking and posting on everyone's threads and putting in some bench time here and there whenever possible. It isn't much time but any little bit sure helps especially when it is dealing with body work. I have been working on the passengers side of the car smoothing it out and getting it proportioned so it doesn't look like a ridiculous wedge of plastic. LOL I thought I would post up a few pictures of some of the modifications that I have made. Finally finished the rockers and outlined where the door would open so everyone can see where the lines will be cut back into the body. Plus, formed in the one A-pillar just need to narrow the window openings back out to look like they are suppose to. I officially have my regulation 3" from the nose to the leading edge of the front wheel well. Then my 2" at the trailing end all the way back. I think I will wrap up the drivers side A-pillar then get the front bumper ette's (things on the front) molded in and then begin working on the Yenko hood scoop. Let me know what you think of these slight but much needed updates. Thanks for checking in.
Romell R Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Its gettin there Bart keep pluggin away at it man I can see it starting to take shape.
eviltwincustoms Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 I thought I would show a small update on my project, kind of a precursor to me cutting the windows back out and adding the inner window lips to the windshield and side windows. I decided to fill the windows in and then cut them back out, this way I get a really nice smooth transition from the windows and windshield do the body of the car. I cut the ugly front windshield lip off and now it transitions like it was a fiberglass/carbon fiber window very smooth transition from the A-Pillars down to the body. I took some time to reshape the doors so they are rounded from the top down more unlike the kit it was a bit of a drop off and not a very smooth transition from the roof to the side. It is a bit hard to see with all the white styrene, especially since I didn't draw the window's back in but you get the gist of what I have accomplished so far. Thanks for checking in.
futurattraction Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 It's looking really good Bart! Glad to see an update on it...!
Prostreet Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 (edited) Nice work Bart, The roof and A-pillars look great. Edited April 24, 2012 by Prostreet

Mooneyzs Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Bart.... That body is looking Killer man. Glad to see you are getting some work done on this one. I can't wait to see more.
eviltwincustoms Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Joe, Tyrone, Chris... Thanks man for checking in, I appreciate you looking in and checking out my updates. I am starting to feel like something is getting accomplished as it starts to look like something other than slabs of plastic from multiple cars. lol. Quick update for those that have been checking in... I spent time tonight cutting the windows out, she is starting to look like a car again! Not like a floating top or a white stryrene bubble top... Ok, enough babble... one with the pictures...
Prostreet Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Nice Job on the windows, Gonna be challenging to make a windshield by the looks. Are they brake rotors behind the front wheels? any pics of those?
Mooneyzs Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Bart.... Great Job on the window cut outs. the body looks sweet man and I am totally digging it. Keep up the killer work!
vintagedragfan Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 this Vette is turning out beautifully Bart, it will look so awesome when you get a coat of primer on it, can't wait to see that! awesome work man!
eviltwincustoms Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Joe - Thanks man for complement! I have my fingers crossed and my thoughts are that based on the way I did the full styrene and then cut out the window, I hopefully wont have any fitment issues. Time will tell in the end, because I may have to use some pretty fast drying glue. Chris - Keep digging the body..... because that lets me know I am at least doing something right. If this changes please let me know if something needs to be tweaked and changed up... because it is everyone's feedback that lets me know I missed or overlooked something that should be changed. Thanks for the props, much appreciated! Bill - I can only hope it will look awesome the closer I get to that primer stage! You and me both, I can't wait either... because this body work is the most hated stage for me. I am a very visual person, and struggle seeing the end result in my head! I have to have the changes made on the car so I can see what it looks like. The issue with this process, is if it doesn't work for me and looks wrong... then I have to tear it completely down and start over. As always I really appreciate everyone sticking with me on this slow going process.. I don't consider myself a body man, so I am struggling through this process, with my fingers and toes crossed in hopes that everything will turn out to look as close as possible to the Pro Mod Vette's that are running down the tracks currently.
MicroNitro Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Man You have to have those cast. I would buy one.
