martinfan5 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Rob, looking forward to see ferrari build, been thinking about getting this kit Paul, looking good
Rob McKee Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Paint has been laid down tonight. 4 coats of color and 2 coats of clear. Many other parts have also been painted and now will dry over night. Thank goodness for Tamiya paint.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Lordy, you guys are making progress. I finally finished cleaning up all the parts and got the body ready for primer tomorrow. I will have some pictures tomorrow. Keep up the great work, folks.
maltsr Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Looking great Rob, good progress Yours too Kyle. It should be real busy on here tomorrow (Sunday for me, already!) Edited February 18, 2012 by maltsr
martinfan5 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Rob, looks good, what red did you use? Kyle, is that revells wrx kit?, the body looks odley shaped, been thinking about getting it if I can find one at a decent price Paul, is it really already sunday there? hmm If I had more yellow paint on hand I would of done the revells new camaro kit, but I dont
mr.camaro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Jonathan it is the revell kit and I noticed something looks off too. The spoiler takes away from the fault so I'm not worried though
Rob McKee Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Hi Jonathan, The paint is Tamiya Italian Red on top of Tamiya white primer. Many say Tamiya is over priced but I would disagree. With the proper prep and primer I have yet to be let down. I also laid down two coats of clear tonight. Tomorrow I'll polish and clear again. Then decal.
hotrod59f100 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Well I had to loose the chev luv but I found another. My ford courier My Toyota celica And finish my 1/32 Datsun
martinfan5 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Rob, I agree that its great paint, but I seem to or can get just as good results from model master lacquers , if I had a LHS that wasnt 30mins away I would most likely use Tamiya paints more. I think the next ferrari kit I build I will give Tamiya Italian Red a try instead of MM italian red
Rob McKee Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I use MM laquers as well and have had good success from them. I wish they had a broader range of colors to choose from in the MM line.
martinfan5 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I agree to , the MM lacquer line is really small, what would really be nice if I hobby lobby would carry tamiya paint, since its about ten mins from me. What I find really funny is the LHS dont carry any of the MM lacquer's at all, just enamel which I refuse to use.
38special Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 will have pics up shortly of the daytona.
38special Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) what i started with. This is probably one of the worst cars i've messed with. started out with junk trying to make it look halfway decent Almost ready to paint I didnt take pics of the grey primer but here it is in the finished coat. Its ready for lettering now The hack job on the chassis. still extremely rough. i have to sand everything down still Edited February 18, 2012 by 38special
mr.camaro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Got the graphic on. Trying to decide if I should stripe the hood and roof also or would it be overkill?
Cool Hand Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 WOW ! you guys are cruising along. Paint job looks good Rob,not bad for straight out the can.I agree with you about tamiya paints. They are my prefered choice too Kyle and Charles your builds are progressing well. I got a bit side tracked with non model related stuff. But body has been prep sanded and currently soaking in dishwashing detergent, will get some primer on it after tea then let it dry overnight. Whilst the body drys il get evrything else prep'd and start some sub assemblies.Going be a late night need to catch up on lost time, and get everything ready for paint tomorrow. Keep at it fella's
mr.camaro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Jonathan its pewter metallic and Detroit alpine green.
hotrod59f100 Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Vary cool Kyle I like the color combo. Something vary different.
mr.camaro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Thanks Shane. I got the can of green for an engine on my mini and never used it since so I figured why not
Austin T Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Washed, sanded and prepped my 1950 Chevy PU for primer, gonna be a Texaco truck
mr.camaro Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 A bit of detailing and a mock up with glass and lights in place
Rob McKee Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Kyle, you are just rockin the house here tonight. Looks awesome man. Thanks guys for the comments on my red bomb. I am happy with the progress. Almost everything is now painted so a good drying over night will leave me ready to really make some progress tomorrow. There still will be some minor painting to do but nothing huge.
