rickd13 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Does anyone have a recommendation for a semi-gloss black spray paint in a can? I had been using Tamiya TS-29 and I love it, but my local hobby shop hasn't been able to get any in for two months. I think Tamiya is reformulating their paint. Any suggestions?
Jantrix Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I've used Krylon semi-gloss successfully for a long while.
Monty Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I've used Krylon semi-gloss successfully for a long while. Rob, would ya mind posting a pic of something (frame rails, seats, inner fenderwells, etc) painted with Krylon semi-gloss black? Sounds like it might be a more consistently available alternative. Probably cheaper, too.
rickd13 Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 I've used Krylon semi-gloss successfully for a long while. What line of Krylon paint do you use? Fusion or the Indoor/Outdoor line? What kind of primer do you use if you use any?
Kaleb Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I use both the regular satin black and the BBQ black. From krylon. Usually for interiors or as the base itself.

Ya know Monty, I'll be darned if I can find a single pic of something I painted semi-gloss that hasn't been weathered in some way. Sorry. And I usually use the indoor/outdoor stuff with Krylon primers. I've used the Fusions, but not black yet. Edited January 23, 2012 by Jantrix
vintagestang Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Yep Krylon. Sometimes the first little bit out of the Krylon cans is a bit wtery but after a few uses it won't be that way. Whatever you do DON'T get Rust-Oleum. Their cans clog up in the can, not in the nozzle.
