sinicle Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I built this as a replica of my cousin's first car back in the 70's. It was a 1 month build, rushed because it was a surprise birthday present based on information that I got from her husband. he told me that besides of having the stock maroon paint with vinyl top, maroon interior, it had a dent in the driver's door, she had to start it with a spoon (I love my family), bought it for $300, and she called it the "Bomb". taking all that, this is what I built:
Chris guthro Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 very cool weathering and nice job on the plates!
sinicle Posted January 29, 2012 Author Posted January 29, 2012 here's a closer look at the guts: the picture on the top of the dash if of my cousin and her husband (then bf) when they were in HS here's the spoon I made for the ignition:
ShawnS Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I love the dent and the not so glossy paint for a well worn look Nice work..
Bartster Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Cool build. My 1st car was a '63 Impala in about the same shape. Chocolate brown......if ya have time. Just sayin'!
62rebel Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 killer! back-row special on the used car lot.... my kinda car!
jerseyjunker1 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 great job and the dent is just right. i love the spoon key and picture on the dash. like ed norton says ( THE SMALL DETAILS )
hotrod59f100 Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 That was a great idea adding the pic on the dash . What did she think? It would have been cool to have had a pic of her expression when she recived it.
espo Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Looks like a fun build. How did your cousin like it?
sinicle Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 thanks for the comps guys! she LOVED it! said it was one of the more personal gifts anyone had ever given her.

car-man666 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 that is so cool ,nice present you gave her, but in those days, anti theft, replacing a spoon by a fork,,, bye bye the club bar. real nice ride and the weathering is 2 thumbs up
