kingtoy Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 ######, none of those cars inspire me for a build.
ffreak Posted January 31, 2012 Author Posted January 31, 2012 Where are the rules for the contest? Right here Chris. http://www.revell.com/contest/revellgearz-rules.html
LAone Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 there they are. everytime i clicked on it, it said "thanks for joining the contest, good luck" i was like wuuuuuuuuuut??
Jantrix Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Well it looks like a muscle car shoot out this time.
moparmagiclives Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I never thought about the 63/64 Impala as a muscle car, but I grew up around to many of them with spokes on them I guess. I though I read somewhere here it was going to be world wide ?
Jared Roach Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Wow us folks from Canada are allowed to enter this time. I'm not going to, but it's nice to know we can if we want to.
crazyjim Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Guess I'll have to hit the LHS pretty soon and get building.
Lunajammer Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Interesting that four of the six judges are established modeling names and Revell is not represented at all. THE JUDGES: 1) Bill Bozgan, writer and Research Consultant to Ford Licensing and Archives; 2) Roy Sorenson, publisher/editor of Model Car Builder model car magazine; 3) Bill Coulter, Author of many books on model car building including "The Directory of Model Car Kits" and feature article writer for Model Cars magazine; 4) David Thibodeau, Regular feature article contributor to Model Cars and Scale Auto magazines and winner of Best in Show at the NNL East contest; 5) Bob Downie, Regular feature article contributor in Scale Auto magazine and officer at ACME Model Car Club; and 6) Stacey David, host/executive producer of Stacey David's GearZ on Speed Channel, and a builder of hot rods and model cars ("Panel").
crazyjim Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I think it's pretty cool that MCM is mentioned - twice. Hope it doesn't go to Gregg's head and he raises the subscription price.
Fabrux Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 So in order to enter you have to buy the kit after 1 February? That sucks as any of the kits in the list I like I already own...

That is some group of judges!!! I think Stacey listened to the complaints and seems to have responded! And remember...Revell is in it to SELL kits...So we choose!!
MikeMc Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 So in order to enter you have to buy the kit after 1 February? That sucks as any of the kits in the list I like I already own... So buy it and return it after photocoping the reciept....The reason is so ALL have the same time to build....thats Fair! -_-

Austin T Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) Darn it! I was counting on them having the 69' Judge,It's already in primer on my bench! Also I think they should have a wider selection of muscle cars. Edited February 1, 2012 by Austin T
jbwelda Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 >2) Roy Sorenson, publisher/editor of Model Car Builder model car magazine what magazine? dont believe i have ever seen it.
BOSWELL891 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Well darn i was really hoping the 64 fairlane would have been an option
moparmagiclives Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Well darn i was really hoping the 64 fairlane would have been an option Yeah, I see a few that should be and a few that shouldn't be on the list.
Longbox55 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 All the kits on the list are currently in production. They're not going to include kits that are either oop or not released/reissued.
Erik Smith Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I may just try my hand this year. Looks like a distinguished bunch doing the judging. Don't gripe about what "should" be on the list. This is a promotional endeavor for Revell. They don't care if you already have one of their kits (They do, but that's not the point of the contest). They want, well really need, new sales. I think it is a great way to promote the hobby. What? 1966 SS 396 isn't on the list!!
moparmagiclives Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 All the kits on the list are currently in production. They're not going to include kits that are either oop or not released/reissued. There are plenty of them that are in production, even listed on their own site that would fit this contest. Maybe it's an over supply issue ? Trying to boost the sales of a few that have been slow movers? Who knows. Beggars can't be choosers,
1320wayne Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 So where in the entry form do you have to submit proof of purchase during the contest period? I know that it says it but how do you prove it?
