Lownslow Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 im pretty much working with one goal in mind to get a presentable affordable Gbody Cutlass casted, i could use your guys help in getting in touch with Jimmy Flintstone to cast it since he can meet the demand and keep the cost low. i started with a monte carlo cause it looks right as a cutlass than the regal. the surgery would be a lot easier as well. im calling it the 88.5 because i dont intend on making a dead accurate cutlass just bringing it up to date
montelsc Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) I like the way its coming out the trunk is taking the cutlass shape Question wouldnt the regal body been easyer to work with? What did you use to re shape the side window and the tail lights? Edited February 4, 2012 by montelsc
BKcustoms Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Looks good, I know I will be interested in one. I was curious too about why you started with a monte instead of a regal, since the regal and cutlass are closer in 1:1, but from the looks of this, I'm sure it will look great!
Fabrux Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) There was an entry to one of my club's shows last year that was a converted Cutlass. They used staples for the grille, IIRC. There was a little writeup beside the model telling what they did for the conversion and pictures of the 1:1 car. Looked pretty good. You can see the back of it in this picture... Lownslow Posted February 4, 2012 Author Posted February 4, 2012 the regal didnt seem right considering im going for the later model look
Johnny1973 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) Nice Cutlass from your model car club show.Jimmie Flintstone does have a website try to contact him there.I was thinking 442 now if you can get it case in resin.I hope this helps you. Edited February 4, 2012 by Johnny1973
Fabrux Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Looking good! In thinking back about the example I posted above, I believe the builder may have started with a NASCAR kit...does that sound right?
Lownslow Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 no from the looks of it its a converted grand national
1972coronet Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I , like many others , am irritated that Revell-Monogram scrapped their plans to produce a 1980-something Cutlass . The building versions are potentially endless ; Lowriders , 4-4-2's , 1/4 milers , stock , street sleeper , etc. Keep up the beautiful work ! Please continue to keep us updated with your progress !
Chuck Most Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 AWESOME! If you do sent this out to be cast, I can guarantee I'll buy one.
espo Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Good fabricating on your conversion. Hope you can get it cast.
Deathgoblin Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 Looking really good so far. The front end is coming out spot on. I wish they had made more of the Olds models.
Nick W. Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Yeah! Any progress yet??????? I would love to see more of this! I have always had a soft spot for the 81 and up. Especially the 87 model!
martinfan5 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I owned a 84, will be nice to see how this turns out
gearhedjon Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I posted a thread in the resin section inquiring about this. As you know the dashboard is different than other G bodies. Don't know if you started on one yet. I am currently working on modifying a Grand National dash. I would gladly buy more than one of these if you cast it. John
Lownslow Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 im just tooling up the body the rest is up to the builder
Scuderia Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I was doin some reasearch on an upcoming idea and came across this... Are you still workin on this by chance this is awesome
