Dave Wood Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Picked up this 53 glue bomb at a club meeting for $3.00 I'm going to rebuild it for a Light Commercial contest, it was painted Gold (no primer) makes tough to strip but I did it. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki only have till this Friday to finish this thing, probably not a good idea to add a real wood bed. GTMust Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Should be on "Search and Restore". Great work and excellent paint. Tony

Dave Wood Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 thanks Guys the bed Rails showed up today so i should have it done by Friday
Austin T Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Great job giving it a new life.Just trade for 2 53 Fords and 3 55 chevy PU's, they will see life again.
Bartster Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 I had to take another look. I don't see all the fuss over '56s, I like the A-pillars & grille of the '53 much better! Just my opinion.
Dave Wood Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Just installed the Bed Rails and Floor This morrning Hosted on Fotki
Dave Darby Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Sweet paint! Is that the Honduras Maroon? I can't wait to see this one finished.
Ramfins59 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Great job so far. I'm also working on a '53 Ford Pickup at the moment. The only thing that really bothers me on this model is the chintzy looking inner door panels molded in relief on the inside of the cab. I'm debating whether or not to scratchbuild my own inner door panels or to just try to detail what is there. I'm just coming out of a long building slump and I'm really looking for some "instant gratification" as opposed to an involved project. Your model is giving me inspiration to keep going on mine. Thanks a lot.
Sixties Sam Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 WOW! That is a nice save and restoration! I agree completely! I like the wood bed and stakes - adds a ton of character! Sam
realgone58 Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Oh yeah! Coming out beautiful! Love the wheel and tire choice! Wood looks fantastic, especially with the color!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Excellent work, thanks for sharing it with us.
Steven Zimmerman Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 When I saw the first pic, I thought you were doing a Diorama of an old abandoned truck in the snow ! ...(GRIN)...BTW, nice save ....'Z'
Dave Wood Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Thanks Guys I just finished it today for a Light Commercial Club Contest tomorrow, its in the Under Glass section.
