I would just use one you bought a while ago if you have one because I don't think you have to show proof so they would never know really

As I recall from the last contest from a buddy of mine who entered, he did have to provide a receipt of purchase (I don't know how that can be policed though as not every shop has say a Hobbytown style receipt system). I don't know if they still require that or not though. When in doubt, email Revell and see what they say.

I just read through the contest rules:

Entrants must log on to www.revell.com to enter online. Buy one (1) new Revell or Monogram brand Muscle Car model within the Contest Period (February 1, 2012 - May 15, 2012). The list of eligible Muscle Car model kits can be found at www.revell.com or at your local Revell retailer. Complete the online entry form and submit it electronically along with up to five (5) photos of your model (up to 2 MB per image). Entries must be received on or before May 15, 2012. Entries may not be offensive or defamatory, which shall be determined in the sole discretion of Sponsors. All Entries must be complete when submitted. Incomplete entries will not be accepted. All Entries submitted become the sole property of Sponsors and will not be returned. Limit one entry per person.

I looked through the conditions and the entry form, I did not see where it says you must submit a reciept.

A member posted some info in a thread a wile back, and said he had been contacted after the contest because his model placed, the purches question came up then. I believe he sayed it didnt hinder his chance. But rules are rules I guess.

I wish you all luck in this "global" event. It's about as global as the World series is world wide. Oh, well, americans. ;)

And Canadians!!!

I have purchased and am starting my research on my project car.

I've never built a model this fast. Could be interesting.

Well, so when in doubt, don't trash the receipt. :)

No big need. Notice the list of kits...all current production...Thats how they figure the age...And the panel of judges know their way around the sprue .

True, but a couple of the kits have been offered before (the 69 Charger RT for one thing). The receipt might be a deal to verify that a kit was likely built within the time window to try and limit somebody from dusting off a model they built before and entering it in this contest (although there is nothing to stop them from buying a new unbuilt kit and claiming it was the "new" kit they built either). In my own case I was thinking of the 68 Mustang GT and doing it as the Bullit car, but the grills look a little different between the Bullit and the 2 in 1 version.

In any event the COPO Nova will suit me just fine for my silly little project. ;)

Picked up the Copo Nova. I'm not good at deadlines, haven't been actively building for awhile so we'll see what happens. Won't be box stock though and it will have parts from a couple of other Revell kits so that should count for something eh? ;)

I wanted to enter the contest last year, but was disapointed when I saw that Canadians weren't allowed. And now I just saw yesterday that Canadians are allowed this year!

So I will enter the '67 Chevelle, just bought the kit, and I am keeping the receipt, just in case they ask for it... I will enter it in the box stock class.

Now I'm wondering what exactly is allowed in the box stock class, only paint and glue? Is BMF allowed? And what about flocking, and spark plug wires?

If you had to cut up a piece from a kit to make it fit could you still enter box stock?

I would think you could, it's not your fault the piece didn't fit in the first place.

I was watching a following episode where the guy was talking about slot cars. He was trying to compare them to model cars, and started somewhat bagging on the hobby. Says the problem is you can't play with them and after staring at them for a while you will get bored and take them to flames and fire crackers. He then proceeds to torch a mustang and light off some fire crackers.

After seeing that and his general behavior of tossing stuff (almost everything) around I don't think I want him near my models.

But it is cool to get that exposure out there for the hobby.
