jwood Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I am going to be putting together the Model Factory Hiro Shelby Daytona Coupe in the near future and I was planning on ordering paint from Model Car World. I was wondering if anyone knows the name of the blue used on the Daytona Coupe’s body? If there is not a standard blue for the Daytona Coupe does anyone know what other people have used? Thanks, JW
RancheroSteve Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 The early Daytona Coupes were painted Viking Blue Metallic, the later ones were Guardsman Blue Metallic.
weasel Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Viking is the lighter, Guardsman is the darker...
bigphoto Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 (edited) Also it depends on the car and race you want to depict, and to confuse you some one was red at one time and also there was a white one! http://saacforum.com...hp?topic=1820.0 Edited February 16, 2012 by bigphoto
lordairgtar Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I had a diecast red Coupe. A guy that owns a coupe and a roadster both built by Factory 5, told me there was no red Daytona. Now I can give him the business about it. Not to worry, he's a friend and has a sense of humor concerning his cars. He even lets kids climb in them at shows.
Len Woodruff Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I am building the Historic Racing Miniatures Daytona Cobra replicating the restored #98 (serial #2300). It is currently liveried as the #26.
RancheroSteve Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Here's one built from the Gunze kit I did with the (lighter) Viking Blue from MCW:
