The Modeling Hermit Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This isn't my usual style of build, but my wife got me the cool wheels for Christmas, and I "built" a car around them. This was a fun build, delving into some uncharted territory for me.
Romell R Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 looks sweet but I think the front rim is on the wrong side those rims are directional
The Modeling Hermit Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Thanks for catching that. I carefully set those things out so I wouldn't mix them up, and still did it. I wonder how I managed that. I'll go switch them in the morning when I'm fresh. If I do it now, who knows what I might end up with.
Greg Wann Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Do those headrests come as separate parts in the kit or did you cut them loose and make them? That is a really nice detail to add to your build. I did that with my Buick GS convertible project, a 5 year old unfinished build.
jerseyjunker1 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 thats a real sleek looking ride and the color is right on. i kinda like the wheels like that.lol
DANB Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Not my style of car either but you still did a sweet job on it. The interior and body colors work great.
The Modeling Hermit Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 It was pointed out that the front wheel was pointed in the wrong direction. When I got to the shop this morning I had the offending technition repair that, and even though it only took a few minutes to fix it, I docked him a day's pay. Just in case anybody's interested, a proper GTO is powered by 3 dueces. The shifter is hard to see, but is an old shrunken head from a 57 Chvey kit. The question was asked about the headrests, and they are seperate pieces, but are included in the kit. Once again, thanks for catching the tire mix-up. I know that sometimes it takes a lot of courage to point out a modeler's mistake, but I do appreciate it.
The70judgeman Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Nice looking build. Brings back memories of my '72 LeMans. Looked just like the GTO and dispite how it looked, I still got lots of thumbs up. By the way...your model looks 10 times better than my car did!
bandit1 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Just in case anybody's interested, a proper GTO is powered by 3 dueces. You sure about that!? ....64 to 67 did have the deuces on em'...68 on had a if i remember correct...holley 4 brrl.
The Modeling Hermit Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Sean, that was just meant in fun, because I loaded it up with carbs.
krazyglu Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 You sure about that!? ....64 to 67 did have the deuces on em'...68 on had a if i remember correct...holley 4 brrl. correct my dad had a '68 with a single 4brl. This thing looks great, what color is that interior? Really nice choice of colors inside and out.

"64-'66 had tri-carb as an option...4bbl was standard. Once GM lifted engine ban (less than 400ci) in intermediates for '67, Pontiac went to 400ci with a 4bbl. And Pontiac used Rochester carb's.
