modelmonster Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 So I figured I would start a post about what engine/motor everybody is running under the hood. Under the hood of my 1966 ford galaxie I am running a 427ci 8 cylinder with velocity stacks in the tear drop hood. I will post pictures tomorrow
bbowser Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My '67 Chevy short-step runs a 250-6 with 3 on-the-tree.
Fabrux Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Are we talking 1:1 vehicles here? In that case, my '00 F-150 has a 4.2L V6 with a 5-speed...
Bartster Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My '94 1500 has a 350 Vortec with a 700R4 & a cracked piston.
DANB Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 lol ^ My Daily runs a warm Hemi 265 and my project runs a Holden 304 with Tunnel ram and spun big end bearing lol
CorvairJim Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I've got a 171 h.p. 2.4L twincam Ecotec inline-4 hooked up to a Getrag 5-speed in my '06 Cobalt SS. My old '66 Corvair Monza had it's 164 c.i.d. horizontally-opposed six (factory rated at 140 h.p. gross) taken out .040, compression bumped up to 11:1, a mid-race cam, bigger valves, low restriction intake and exhaust, all 4 carbs bigger than stock, and it put over 220 h.p. to the road... With a 3.89:1 Posi rear, 5.0 Mustangs beware!
DANB Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 haha ^ bro strap a hair dryer on that ecotec and reel those numbers in. Solid motors.
Devilsnake98 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My daily is a 01 ram 2500 4x4 with and 5.9 cummins and a 6 speed stick, my not so daily is a 67 mustang coupe with a to be named engine as of right now... Long term project.
VW Dave Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My '98 Subaru Legacy daily has a 2.2l flat four with 200K 'break in' miles on it; my '68 Meyers Manx summer toy has a single-port 1600cc with dual carbs and an open header....looks great, sounds better, but it's still slow enough to keep me out of trouble.
ARTEMIS1759 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 (edited) My daily 93 Chevy FS 2 door Blazer 4x4 has a cammed 350 from my wrecked 94 Yukon 2 dr and a kitted 4l60e. The 58 Chevy 4 door Del Ray that I am so close to final negotiations on has the blueflame 235 I6 and 3 on the tree which will become my new daily driver. Hope to find an overdrive unit for it but if not it will also get a 4l60 behind the 6 since I have one I am rebuilding. Edited February 22, 2012 by ARTEMIS1759
kenb Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 my daily driver Dodge Caravan has a 3.8 V6. My 29 Essex street rod has a Mopar 318 V8, and my 72 Harley has a 74 cu in Shovelhead engine. Ken
Patrick2005 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My 94 Crown Vic has a 4.6 SOHC and AOD 4 speed. Its got its quirks but with over 160,000 on it, aside from an oil leak its still running strong and VERY minimal rust which is a surprise since it was a ex-detectives car.
Jantrix Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 My '94 Olds is running a seriously arthritic hamster in a very squeaky wheel.
SuperStockAndy Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Stock Chevy 350 with an Edelbrock aluminum manifold and a Quadrajunk, Turbo 350 behind it.
Guest Dr. Odyssey Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Shouldn't this be in the General section?
Deathgoblin Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Want a list in order? first car: 1972 Buick Skylark with a 350, 2 barrel (rusted out) 1978 Plymouth Volare with a Slant 6 (had the "performance" 2 barrel carb) (POS car, too many problems to mention) 1977 Olds Cutlass, 350, 4 barrel (blew both head gaskets) 1978 Monte Carlo, 305 2 barrel (spun out the main bearings) 1969 Dodge A108 van, Slant 6 (sabotage) 1991 Ford Escort, 4 cylinder (transmission died) 1992 Ford Escort wagon, 4 cylinder (wore out/wrecked) 1990 Ford Crown Victoria, 5.0L FI (wore out/wrecked) 1998 Cadillac Deville Concours, 4.6L Northstar (cause it was a Northstar) 2009 Chevy Malibu LS, 2.4L Ecotec (current) How's that? Makes modelling the 1:1's a little difficult on some of them.
modelmonster Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Doesn't matter what we are talking. Death goblin where did you get your escorts. Btw my 66 is a 1:25 scale

Dragline Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 My 2000 Cavalier has a 2.2 litre four cylinder. My hope is to stuff a 2.6 litre Ecotech with a roots style blower into it. Bob
