ridedoc100 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 After being out of modeling for about 30 years I am starting again!!Over the last year or so I have collected over a dozen so its time to get started. Just had my hip replaced last week and just now starting to feel up to doing anything at all. I was going to start with a 61 Impala SS from Lindberg. Want to wire and plumb the engine and foil the trim. Will post pics of progress.
Rob McKee Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Welcome back to the hobby James. If you do a search in the forum for the 61 impala you will find lots of builds in progress and under glass. Take care of that hip.
crazyjim Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Been a long time, James. Welcome back to the hobby. You might notice that a few things have changed since your last build.

Welcome aboard James , I also took a 30 year leave of absence and been back in the hobby about 6 months now . The stuff they have now glues , BMF , air brushes , its just amazing , and the talent of these guys . I am constantly getting ideals and most anyone here is willing to help on everything from vender's to howtos .
ridedoc100 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 Thanks for the warm welcome! Yes things have changed alot in 30 years, I have some catchting up to do. I bought mostly 50's and 60's full size Chevys, a couple of Camaros. I would relly like to get a 71 or 72 ElCamino model but I have yet to see one.
LoneWolf15 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Bit of a cultural shock , eh , James ? Things sure have changed since the days of wiring your motors with Mom's sewing thread ! Welcome home , hope you enjoy yourself ! You don't have to be crazy to hang out here , but it sure seems to be contagious ! As to your El Camino question ? Nope ! No such animal offered as a standard kit . Resin ? , now that is a possibilty !
my66s55 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Welcome back James. The last kit I built before I came back was a 1960 Edsel . I started seriously building again in April of 2009, although I started collecting data, kit and info from 2000 until then. A lot has transpired sense then as there has since your departure 30 tears ago.. Research, learn. Its an all new ballgame.
