SuperStockAndy Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 ...to not start another build until you have finished your current one? Has anyone ever been able to follow through with this?
JamesW Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I have at LEAST 20 started projects. So to answer your question, no, it's not possible, for me anyway.
The70judgeman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I second James' statement word for word.
elan Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Nope, tried it once. Didn't work. Kind of like trying to finish something, that didn't work either.
southernboy Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Seeing as I don't have a dedicated build area. It's not that hard for me. I pull all my stuff out, work for a while, put it back till the next spare moment. It would be all kinds of hastle to do that with multiple kits going at once.
Hoosierfarmboy Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 mercman - had 2 save that pik. I have a relative that has several cats . thot they might get a chucle out of it as I did.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I always find it exciting to have a few builds in progress. Although lately I've been finishing one before started another.
Romell R Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This is actually my rule , "never start a new one unit the one im working on is done", because I have a bad habbit of not finishing if I do. I put a batmobile down 20 years ago and it hasnt seen day light since, the same with the VW bug I put it down for. And just recently I put down an awesome project that will never get finished by my hands. So for me I have to keep working on the same project or it just becomes a waste of time.
Harry P. Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I can't do it. I always have several projects going in various stages of completion (or to be more exact, incompletion! ) My problem is that I get bored with a particular model after a while... usually long before I finish it. So after a while I'll put it aside and start on something else. Then I'll get bored with that project and start something else! Eventually, though, most of them do get finished... but I could never do the "finish this one before you start another one" routine. No way.
Guest Johnny Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Only if you can keep your self from buying the next one before you are finished with the first!
Zarana-X Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 No. Not since I was kid where I'd finish a model in 1 or 2 days. And they looked like it, too. It's not uncommon for me to be working on 5 things at once. Right now im shuffling one brand new AMT/Aoshima time machine, the Revell tuner series 510 and a glue bomb of one of the Revell Datsun trucks. then there's the two GI Joe vehicles I'm customizing and a pile of figures to fix.
Ramfins59 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Nah... I can't do it either. Every so often I'll try to go back to one of my started projects with all good intentions of finishing it up before starting another new one... But then I rediscover what it was that made me stop working on it... and it again goes back in the box.
Wagoneer81 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Completely impossible for me. Cannot, willnot, shallnot happen! I have no idea how many projects I have started but I think it's over 20... someday I'm gonna have a heck of a finished collection!
warra48 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I've started on every model I've ever bought. Which means I have about 100 on the go. But I do finish one from time to time, even if some take 10 to 15 years!
Austin T Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 This isn't my problem, mine is this.OH MY GOSH THAT KIT AT HOBBYTOWN IS EPIC,get home open it up plan the build while in the middle of a kit.
martinfan5 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 No way, I have to have more then one build going on at one time, I know it sounds weird, but it helps me get better results and better builds when I work on more then one at a time
moparmagiclives Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Every kit I own is open, so I guess they are all started, but for the most part, my builds are pretty "mood" driven. So if I'm not feeling real fast and hard core, the dragster goes in the box. If I'M not feeling very laid back and smooth, the custom or lowrider goes night, night. I will say iI never have more then 3,4 goig at one time. I have this OCD about to many unfinished things. If I can tell my self they are still in progress, I'm ok.. ....I know, its a sickness
FASTBACK340 Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I haven't had enough spare time to sit & build. I'm dying to do the 1/18 version of my car, but I'm going to finish that Edsel if it kills me. I'm entirely capable of starting too many and finishing nothing too. But I'd rather build nothing than start another. My 1/2 hour of internet time is just about don....*

disabled modeler Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 I've built many one at a time before but find its getting harder to while the paint dries and the ideas come. I have many project I need to get done but get sidetracked needing a part or paint, glue, etc. then while looking for it I come up with new ideas for builds.
mikemodeler Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Of what is this "finish a model" thing you speak? Of course I have more than one kit started.....probably more WIP than completed builds for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only kit I finished before starting another one was my first model kit at age 8......because I had to wait for my Mom to pay my allowance and drive me to the store!
