Mercman Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Ever wonder wnt the Doc looked like as a little Cranky. For those that don't know he does have a nice bike.
Kit Basher Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Hah! He definitely looks Cranky! In fact, it looks like he might have a scrapple sandwich in his pants!
Terry Sumner Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Hah! He definitely looks Cranky! In fact, it looks like he might have a scrapple sandwich in his pants! A used one!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 LOL, Junior, you've been looking through my childhood photo album again?
Dr. Cranky Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 My parents were not too far away, although they had their own ride:
JunkPile Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 You ask if I ever wonder about Dr. Cranky, I always wonder about Dr. Cranky
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 David, no . . . these are my Google Image parents. My parents were both terrified of motorcycles and my old man died in 1997 not knowing the kind of freedom a motorcycle is!
imatt88 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Doc, We always wonder about you , but I can't imagine this forum without you around
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Thanks, Ian. I appreciate the kind words.
Ragnar Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 The Doc is a big part of this Forum. Virgil I hope you will always be a part of this Group!
'08SEAL Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 You ask if I ever wonder about Dr. Cranky, I always wonder about Dr. Cranky Me too!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Aw shucks, thanks my friends. Actually, Junior, you are right, I do have a nice bike and it's about to get a little crazier: Here it is now: And here are the new tins I just finished painting. A buddy of mine did the pinstriping. My hands are too shakey for pinstriping.
martinfan5 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Do I wonder about Virgil, not really, I try not to think about other guys , I really admire him for how he keeps his inspiration for this hobby going, and his love for eye candy. I think if you ever start losing your mojo, talk to Virgil. I do respect his work, I may not really care for the rust look, but he does a darn good job, and his shiny work is just as good, I think you can learn a lot from him, and I agree he is a big part of this forum.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I don't know exactly what I have done to get this HE'S-A-JOLLY-GOOD-FELLOW song going on here, but hey, I'm just trying to have fun in this hobby, and this forum is full of great builders and wonderful friends. Here's a sound track that always reminds me of my styrene addiction:
Steven Zimmerman Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Naw, I never won/....VIRGIL?.....His name is V I R G I L ?..whoa....(grin)
trogdor Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I stopped wondering about the good Doc. My head hurts less that way
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 LOL, Rick, a good Scrapple Sandwich will make the headaches go away!
crazyjim Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Oh my god! You turned the shiny sheet metal into satin? And they call me crazy? What are you going to do with all the chrome? The wonder about you has stopped - now I'm worried about you.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Ha, I knew you were going to say that. No worries, the change ain't happening yet. I am waiting for the bike to age and weather naturally and then I will make the change. When the pipes go, I will wrap them in tape.
heatride Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Oh my god! You turned the shiny sheet metal into satin? And they call me crazy? What are you going to do with all the chrome? The wonder about you has stopped - now I'm worried about you. LOL Virgil you gonna make Jim pop a vain ! ............
Agent G Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Interesting bike Virgil! I like mine stock. I sort of grew up around bikes. Here's grandpa and grandma ca 1920. G
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Nice bike, Wayne. Mine started out stock, but then I couldn't resist a few small, but very comfortable modifications.
crazyjim Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I have extended controls as stock on my Wide Glide and added 2" extensions to those. I can stretch out my legs that way. Other additions have been braided stainless steel lines everywhere, matching billet mirrors, shifter, and foot brake, and some pin striping. Of course, my bike is SHINY :) and purple!
Dr. Cranky Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Feel free to post a picture, Jim. I'm heading out to Daytona the second weekend, I think.
