SuperStockAndy Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 (edited) Simple, which model took you the shortest amount of time to build, and which has taken the longest? For me, the fastest is a Revell C5 (I think that's what it was) Corvette, took me about a day. It's easy to tell it was finished in a day, too... The longest would be...probably my '64 Fairlane. Started back in September of 2010, it was plagued with paint problems so I boxed it. Yesterday, I finally repainted it, gonna have it done in the next couple days. Rob McKee Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Fastest was the Revell McDonald's Firebird Funny Car I built for the 24 hour build. Longest, is still on my workbench. 69 Charger. 9 months and still counting on this one.
Bartster Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I have a kit-bash project-'94 SVT Cobra GT into a '53 Victoria-that's been going, on & off, since 1997. I built MANY in a day many years ago. The last one was probably a '61 Ranchero in about '79.
Scale-Master Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 One of my Super Sevens took 2 years and 7 months of nearly full time work. That certainly has the most time invested of any model I made. A Camaro I recently finished spanned about 14 years. Most of that time it was effectively on blocks. I have done many one day models.
JollySipper Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I can't remember which kit has taken the longest to build, but my quickest build was a '66 Chevelle snap-tite kit I put together when I was about 6 or 7 years old... I believe it was molded in tan and had metal axles
Drgon63 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 quickest... there's such a thing as a quick build....? as for the longest has top be my custom semi 3 yrs now.....hope to be done soon though.... pretty much ready for paint... yeah.....!
Ramfins59 Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 My quickest build (other than the ones I built back in the '60's)has to be the 2 SNAP kits I put together to give to my almost year old Grandson. They took me about 20 minutes each to finish & that includes reinforcing all the snap joints with CA glue so they would withstand the beating I know he has, and will be, giving them. I'm VERY HAPPY to hear from my daughter that right now they are his FAVORITE TOYS to play with right now...!!! I love it... I knew I'd make him a Car Guy...!!! The longest build... Hmmmmm... I guess that would have to be a '57 Chevy Bel Air Pro Modeler kit that I started about 6 years ago which is still sitting unfinished in the box. I had troubles fitting the completed chassis/engine/interior into the body and pieces kept coming apart. Each time that happened I would just put it back in the box to come back to it when the aggravation factor went away. I used a PE set from MCG on it and it has probably the best, smoothest Black paint job I've ever done, along with close to the best BMF job I've ever done. One of these days/months/years I'll actually finish the darn thing...
XJ6 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 My current one on the work bench...has most indeed been my longest...Tamiya Lexus LFA Kit.....4 months
Haubenschild Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) In my 8 months of building the shortest build took 4 days ( 1970 T/A ) and longest took around 3 months ( 1968 McLaren M8a ) Edited March 3, 2012 by Haubenschild
martinfan5 Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 So far the longest kit build is the roadrunner viper custom I am doing for a contest
BKcustoms Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 (edited) My quickest build was the Revell 48 ford custom coupe that took me 2 weeks to build, and it turned out to be one of my best builds ever! Edited March 3, 2012 by BKcustoms
