martinfan5
It happens with kyrlon paint
vintagestang
How can I keep that from happening?
martinfan5
I dont know to be honest, It happens for me off and on, thats why I stay away from using krylon. What I have noticed when it happens if you wait to long to spary another coat, you either have to get all the coats spray withing the first hour or so, or wait a few days. vintagestang
This is the only can that has done that to me.
moparmagiclives
That's a pretty thick paint isn't it? Try different build thicknesses, maybe decant it and try it ?
martinfan5
The only thing I can really tell you is to try a different brand of paint, It sucks, I have been trying to paint one of the new Camaro kits with Krylon sun yellow, I really like that shade of yellow, Ive been trying for two weeks now to get it painted. I have just gave up and I am trying to strip it and I am going to use either Model Master Lacquer or Tamiya paint.

Lunajammer
You used a primer and made sure the plastic was thoroughly cleaned first?
jbwelda
any chance you put it on too thick too fast? krylon did seem to change their formula or something a while ago (few years or so) and then it started crazing the plastic for me anyway. so you could strip it but underneath the plastic was still patterned from the paint. pretty much messed up the body. but i only noticed it when i over applied it. mr moto
As jbwelda said, Krylon changed their formula maybe a couple of years ago and it went from being one of my favorites paints to something that I don't exactly trust. The old formula is still available in their industrial line but not in as many colors and I don't know where to get it except on-line. route66modeler
HI, did you heat the can up b4 you sprayed it? Steve
sjordan2
I don't get this thread. One brand of paint screwed up. So change the brand . I see this a lot about Krylon, but I never see it about Tamiya lacquers.
vintagestang
I can't get Tamiya.
martinfan5
I can't get Tamiya. Why not?
vintagestang
The closest hobby shop is in another city and they don't have it and I don't order paint off the internet.
jbwelda
plus a can of krylon goes a whole lot further than a can of tamiya. but personally, im with you, make it tamiya. if you cant get it at the LHS, i would get it from an internet site. vintagestang
I just had more krylon paint not work right. They get the satin black too thin.
935k3
As jbwelda said, Krylon changed their formula maybe a couple of years ago and it went from being one of my favorites paints to something that I don't exactly trust. The old formula is still available in their industrial line but not in as many colors and I don't know where to get it except on-line. You can get Gloss White and Gloss Black at All Micheals craft stores. It's labeled Krylon Specialty Laquer. The new formula is garbage. Any paint that does not say recoat at anytime is vulnerable to recoats no matter what the instructions say. Luckily I noticed the change and started buying the old stuff before it disapeared.
