curt raitz Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 The 550 is my favorite Porsche and this is the one I've always wanted to build a model of: Started with Jimmy Flintsones resin "550 Porche": Matchbox Porsche Speedster donor kit: Decals from Pattos: Here's what I've got after modifying the Flintstone body and chassis plate so far... Thanx for lookin', more to come...
DustyMojave Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Great stuff Curt! Dad went down for the 52 Carrera and a good friend of mine does Tech Inspection for the La Carrera. I love aircooled German stuff anyway. Had you considered using parts from one of the Fujimi 356 kits?
Foxer Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I've never seen that Matchbox kit. The interior "bulkhead" looks good. Is this getting an engine with hinged rear?
3men2s Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 can't wait to see it done the way you know how "NITIDO"
Bartster Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I'll be following this one. I always liked the older Porsches.

I love aircooled German stuff anyway. Had you considered using parts from one of the Fujimi 356 kits? I did, but couldn't justify dropping $40 - $50 bucks on a "donor kit". The Matchbox Porsche Speedster parts are not bad...not the quality of the Fujimi 356, but can be made to work thanx
curt raitz Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 I've never seen that Matchbox kit. The interior "bulkhead" looks good. Is this getting an engine with hinged rear? Yes, I'm hinging the rear bonnet and it will have an engine, etc...
DustyMojave Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Is that Matchbox the old Revell kit? Never seen inside one of the Matchbox kits, but I have a couple of Revells and a Fujimi. Last time I saw one of the Matchbox kits it was up in the same airspace as what you cite for the Fujimis, so I never bought one. Always thought they were probably the Revell kit inside anyway
