Tom Setzer Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hi Guys Just want to le everyone know why I haven't been on for awhile. I fell and broke my hip on the 6th, and I have had two Operations to replace the Ball and wire my thigh bone together around it. I am now going PT before they will let me go home. I will try to post as often as I can, and I will now try to catch up on what I have missed. I hope that all of you are doing well!
george 53 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 OW that sounds painful, Tom! Glad your gettin around again! Stay with your rehab. I blew my kneecap out 20 years ago, they tried to tell me I'd never be the same. My Dr. was suprised when after 9 months of therapy, i had 90% mobility back. Just can't run as fast as I used to, but maybe age has somethin to do with it too! GLAD your back!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Sorry to hear of this, Tom. Hope you get to recoup fast.
uncle potts Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Sorry to hear about your accident. I had hip replacement surgery about 15 months ago, not nearly as severe as what you're going through, but I can relate, somewhat. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Romell R Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I remember the night I broke my hip (actually I broke the top of my left femer off and split my pelvis in the front and rear by almost 2 inches), I fell 5 stories from a balcony. Man that messed my night up! I spent the next 6 months in the house, i was able to keep myself sane by building models. I hope you get better soon.
Tom Setzer Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 The worst thing other than p ain is that I will not be able to get to my work aera for about six weeks, I will miss all of the shows this year. Thank all of you for the kind words and sharing your experiances with me!
camaroman Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Tom, a good friend of mine does much of his work right in the ol' den using a lap tray or a TV dinner table... Hope to get better soon!
Old Sprinter Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 That isn't good Tom. The good news is that you will be alright in awhile and use the TV tray, as suggested, to work on. I've had both hips replaced and my back fused, all in one year and was able to draw a lot on the old TV tray. It was before I started modeling. Take care. Ken
