DANB Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Built box stock minus some of the homo parts. The idea looked better in my head i think lol. Enjoy.
Modlbldr Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 For as much as that kit is a turd, you made it look good. Nice job on the weathering. Later-
Flatearthman Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 LOL most gasser kits are turds but you made it look great
Joe Handley Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 "Homo" parts? What are those? I'm guessing "home made" o_O
Dr. Cranky Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Well, if you leave it like that those panels have a lot of interest already build into them. I like it.
rmvw guy Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 The top looks too nice. lol Hey, these kind of builds make me happy sometimes. I've had trouble trying to figure out what to do with that same kit for a long time. Having owned three 1:1 '55s, everyone always gave me the model as a gift. I've had a half dozen of that same kit. Yours turned out better than any of mine.
DANB Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Lol, i got mixed inspiration from a few places really, seeing the progress on my mates EJ Holden the other day gave me the idea of the roof, most of the car is bare metal yet the roof remains the factory pearl white color. Looks cool i thought. And i originally wanted to do the car primer grey so i figured why not make it look like its still undergoing some panel work as well. As for the interior ive seen a few cars in some of the old mans magazines that have a real "rat" look to them, yet have a sort of subtle custom interior. So that's where the metallic green and pearl white interior come from.
rmvw guy Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 It really looks a lot like my first car. I had a green passenger door and trunk lid on a red '55 with a blue hood, taking parts off 3 different cars to build it, It got painted blue just in time for me to drive when I was 16. Thanks for bringing back my memory. lol
DANB Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 The exhaust tips the rear bar thats almost entirely a different shape to the body the stupid clear hood scoop thing and the silly moon tank. And whatever else is now in the parts box.
rmvw guy Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 (edited) The exhaust tips the rear bar thats almost entirely a different shape to the body the stupid clear hood scoop thing and the silly moon tank. And whatever else is now in the parts box. Dan, Since you are from Australia I will explain. These guys might be having some fun but, in our world (the USA) of political correctness we don't use the term " Homo " for fear it may offend someone. I guess it's OK to say " turd ", I don't know. Did you wonder why they keep asking the same question? One exception, you may see a sign advertiseing " Homo Milk " which is OK for some reason. Anyway just thought I'd give you a heads up. I love the international flavor here. lol Edited April 19, 2012 by rmvw guy
rctruk Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I like that...when I was in high school, having that would have been a dream come true....nice job
Badluck 13 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 For as much as that kit is a turd, you made it look good. Nice job on the weathering. Later- I agree,I personally never liked this kit,but you made this kit way cool and i love the "work in progress" look, got me wanting one of these now
DANB Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 Anyway just thought I'd give you a heads up. I love the international flavor here. lol Thats alright! I didnt think much of it at first. I frequent many forums but this is the only international one i use. A few times i have been confusing with my lingo, so i apologize! It is quite easy to forget how different our terminology can be lolAnd cheers everybody for the comments!
