rmvw guy Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) This is just a quick build, my first modified from a kit. The kit was opened before I got it with no decals and a few parts missing. Decals are from Kurtis midget, I added plug wires and a few details. Thanks for looking. Edited April 21, 2012 by rmvw guy
rmvw guy Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 Thanks Doctor Cranky, it means a lot coming from you.
krazyglu Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 That's cool Ron I spotted some of the modifieds at a swap meet and I almost got one. The decals work very well on there, nice job.
rmvw guy Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 Thanks Steven. It's so simple compared to the detail on your sprint car, but thanks for looking and leaving a comment.
rmvw guy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for the comments Fabriizio and Thomas.
Grumpa Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Nice little stock car Ron! Reminds me of some of the ones that used to run around "Riverside Parks" track up in Agawam Mass back in the '60's. Headers are pretty cool! Looks like "Smitty's Muffler Shop" new what they were doing!
Chuck Most Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Nice! Most of the local guys build these modifieds as dirt-trackers, so seeing one with slicks and a clean finish is refreshing for me.
rmvw guy Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Thanks for the comments Mark and Chuck. I actually thought of making it a dirt tracker with the tires grooved and screen wire in the windshield opening but, ran out of time before a club meeting. I really don't know much about these type of cars. It was fun!
rctruk Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 That came out really nice, there is a lot of work to make that frame look good. also a nice paint job. I have the 36 Plymouth...I'll be happy if it's half as neat as yours. Excellent job
MicroNitro Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 That's a great on that kit. Now I have to search e bay for a kit. Thanks for sharing.
rmvw guy Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 Thanks for the comments Felix, Jeff and Jim. The paint is Dupli Color gloss black and Dupli Color cherry red acrylic enamel sprayed over Dupli Color white primer. There was a lot of flash on every piece of the frame, ( just like exhaust tubing normally has) that had to be sanded. The frame was the most difficult challenge. I wish I would have added hex bolt heads to all suspension..The steering wheel needs a link to steering rod also. I have the '36 Chevy modified to do next. Thanks for looking everybody.
JustBill Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Nice clean build Ron. I like how the Dupi black turned out, gona try using it. Like Chuck its different to see it built in asphalt form. I hang around dirt guys.
rmvw guy Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Thanks Bill, I appreciate your comments. I'm beginning to really like Dupli Color paints, they are so easy to use. I might get some dirt on the next one. Lol.
