Mutato Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Hi all, I did a lot of modeling in the late 70's as a young teenager. Luckily, due to my love for models, I packed my collection away in newspaper and boxes. Unwrapped them about 5 years ago and they live perched in my basement rec room. Unfortunately, my curious cat sometimes tries to jump up to the area and knocks them down! Well, my 1976 Firebird Formula was found in pieces on the floor about three weeks ago. Front wheels snapped off. Sad. Since I'm on a Rockford Files kick with Neflix, I decided to convert it to his gold color. Kept the hoop scoops, though. Had some gold hanging around. bought some beige for the interior. Before. In pieces. After (outside) Rockford Files rules! More detailed pix of the rebuild: http://s183.photobuc...rebird%20Model/
george 53 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Wow! it came out nice in BOTH versions!!! I have one of those layin around, but it's not a rockford car. BUT it soon could be! I like the gold color!!! It actually looks like it coulda been a photo shopped pic in the second one with the trailer house. Was it????
Mutato Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) Yes. The outdoor sunny shots were done "in camera". I placed the car on a black paper glued to foamcore. My kids discovered it in the garage and had skateboarded on it before I even got to use it! But it actually was good, because the black paper now has some "tracks". Made it more real looking. I shot it in my driveway sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. The black paper seamlessly blended into the driveway. As for the Rockford Files. Yes, I def photoshopped that into the scene! I'm both a photoshop master, and a seasoned photographer. Edited April 27, 2012 by Mutato
george 53 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 (edited) VERY nice job Martin. The only give aways I could see were the car is a bit sharper than the background, and the windsheild on the Firebird is kinda canted in at the top. But other than that, it came out pretty good. YOUR pretty good at it, so gettin back into the groove shouldn't be too hard!! Oh, and WELCOME back!!!! Edited April 27, 2012 by george 53
Mutato Posted April 27, 2012 Author Posted April 27, 2012 I will take pix of my vintage collection at some point. I have two Trans Ams (so 3 firebirds total!). Few Corvettes. Mustang ('79 Indy Pace car). Jeep Wrangler. Then a recent build from a few years ago: early 60's truck.
hotrod59f100 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 That turned out for the better . I love that gold a lot.
Grumpa Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Nice re-build Martin! Looks good, and welcome aboard.
