Joker Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Got this project going over on the 2012 Lowrider Tour community build. But since it's leaning towards the Kustom side I'm posting it here. The kit is the Revell Speed Shop Express Chevy Panel. I've redone the interior and made flush fitting skirts that follow the bottom curve of the rear fender. But what I wanted to share was the body work on the Phantom Wagon part. James aka Joker
zaina Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Nice. Knowin your other builds, this one should be nice
Bartster Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I like it already. I love deliveries, but a 2-door window model is something Chevy should have done in '53-4. Nice work so far.
george 53 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 Actually, I like YOUR styling moreso than the original wagons style!!! VERY nice lookin so far.
zelkam Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) it reminds me of an Australian car, I love it! Simca Aronde P60 Edited April 29, 2012 by zelkam

mazlak Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 James, You bringin' that to the meeting Thursday night at Hobbytown? I can't wait to see it up close. Rick in Richmond
Joker Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) James, You bringin' that to the meeting Thursday night at Hobbytown? I can't wait to see it up close. Rick in Richmond Yup... Just finishing up the rounded hood corners and the molded grill opened the back window wagon style.Hooded head lites, peaked fenders and hood. Oh..and I'm also bringing the Purple 59 Ferd Longroof..LOL Edited April 30, 2012 by Joker
Joker Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 A little update.... Played around with different grills.Going with tube grill. Made a visor but I might not use it.Molded the grill surround and angled the head lite buckets forward. Also lowered the windshield and made new trim for it. James aka Joker
Joker Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Two more brighter pixs.. Thanks again... James aka Joker
TooOld Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 The grille and headlights look good . And I vote for keeping the visor . . . it looks cool !
Joker Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Painted the roof with Testors Phoenician Yellow Lacquer and the body and visor with Testors One Coat Root Beer. Kinda like a Rootbeer float ....LOL Added flat black to the door seams, flush skirts, and rear gate then I resanded the whole body. This will darken the seams with the final paint coat.Still undecided on the wheels and tires ..right now it sits on Lyles 48 Chevy style rims..Might go with 55 Chevy full wheel covers. Fly fishing is taking over my spare time and it seems like this build is dragging a bit. Pay no mind to the red and the orange Chevies...they are there for encouragement. The 51 is a stalled build and the red one is like 15 years old. James aka Joker
Eshaver Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Jim, I'm suprised that you didn't use some of the Copper mesh you have on hand ............. Ed Shaver
Joker Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Paint update... the obligatory rear view mirror accessory ... James aka Joker
Jantrix Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 the obligatory rear view mirror accessory ... Where did you come up with this? This would be perfect in my Jolly Roger Merc.
Joker Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Where did you come up with this? This would be perfect in my Jolly Roger Merc. It came off the sprue tree..I just added a Dremel and some paint. Will do a how-to if y'all are interested.
Joker Posted May 9, 2012 Author Posted May 9, 2012 Jim, I'm suprised that you didn't use some of the Copper mesh you have on hand ............. Ed Shaver It's in the build plan for the grill..might paint it flat black or leave it al'natural'
