Dragracer Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The Dart looks good too Corey, nice job on the flip- front end!
Mister Twister Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Nice work on all your builds and welcome aboard!
dimebolt Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Thanks again everyone. Looks like you have some cool stuff going on at your links, Darryl, and Tyrone.
TooOld Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 I never get tired of looking at your builds . This Hemi Dart is my favorite ! Maybe you can do something about the mold line running around the tread of the front tires . . . Just something I notice every time I look at the photo . Looking forward to seeing more of your work . BOB.
dimebolt Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Lol, yeah, yeah. I noticed that I forgot that also! Got it taken care of though I don't have any new pics of it. Am stuck using an inferior camera to the one I had, and the picture quality isn't very good. But I'll get some new pics of everything taken sometime, and get em posted. Thanks for all the compliments, AND the critique also! That's how we learn. I am ALWAYS open to new idea's and suggestions, and ready to better my building skills. Corey
W-409 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Cool HemiDart, never seen one with a FlipNose. You did great job with it. Paintjob and details look sharp and it's very clean build over all, no mistakes anywhere.
MyBradKeselowski Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Good job on the flipnose, I hear they are hard to do you're better at it then I would be, I wouldn't even attempt at one. Great job and great detailing...
dimebolt Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Thanks guys. All in all it really wasn't as hard as I figured it'd be. I just modeled the hinges after a 53 Ford F-100 setup, and adapted the idea to the front clip on the Dart. Corey
cwobeaman Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Could you go over your engineering of the swinging hood?? Thanks, Shannon
dimebolt Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 mc4810, here are a couple of pics of the hinge system.Basically I glued my hinges to the radiator support on either side of the radiator, and used aluminum tubing for the pins. Corey
Platerpants Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 so its got a standard hood and a hinge hood?
dimebolt Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 (edited) Hello Jake. It started out as the Revell Hemi Dart. I cut the front clip open and hinged it so it will slide forward and flip up. The hood is the one that came in this kit. It also had the 68 Dart GTS building options to build it with a 440, GTS hood, etc. I scratchbuilt the hinge system from sheet plastic and aluminum tubing. Corey Edited September 27, 2012 by dimebolt
Platerpants Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 sweet. usually when i see hinge hoods they never have a regular hood this is quite unique
BigEd Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Great lookin' Dart Corey. Nice work on the tilt frontend & the motor.
dimebolt Posted September 28, 2012 Author Posted September 28, 2012 Thanks Big Ed. It was alot of work, but I learned alot doing it. Corey
