foxbat426 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) I'm doing my first Bare Metal Foil job and must say it makes a big difference over painting on the chrome. Actually i'm using aluminum foil and mona lisa adhesive. my question is what is the best way to get the glue residue off the surrounding paint after cutting in the foil? Great site - thanks everyone for your help!! I couldn't do it without you guys! John Edited May 10, 2012 by foxbat426
Fat Brian Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 It depends on the type of paint you used. Normally rubbing alcohol is the best way to remove adhesives but depending on your paint it might be like wiping it with paint thinner.
cobraman Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Maybe "Goof Off " would work if the paint is dry and you were very careful with it. Depending on how much glue is on the paint could you carefully wet sand the glue and then touch up the paint with a small brush. Not sure either of these methods would work. Good luck.
roadhawg Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Isn't that adhesive waterbased? Have you tried.....water? Also try rubbing your finger against the side of your nose and buff with that....natural skin oils will remove adhesives like that. Another method would be to put a small amout of WD-40 on a soft cloth and buff.
