Jared Roach Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) So I bought this revell ram vts from a collector when I purchased a bunch of other kits from him. I only paid 5 bucks for it because the body parts were painted. The rest of the kit was still on the trees in unpainted conditions. The only thing wrong was the decals are garbage. So I striped the paint and this is what I am going for. I might shave the tailgate handle and roll pan, but nothing extreme. But it will be a bright color. Thanks for looking. Casey Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 One suggestion- plan or figure out a better, more secure method to mount the front bumper cover, as from what I recall, there is not a lot contact between the body and bumper cover, especially if the grille is mounted to the hood.
Jared Roach Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Thanks guys. I'll see what I can do about the bumper Casey, thanks for the heads up.
Jared Roach Posted May 20, 2012 Author Posted May 20, 2012 So here's a small update. I got the suspension set up the way I like, just need to lower the rear some. I also shaved the badges off the side and I am smoothing the roll pan and shaving the tailgate handle.
Jared Roach Posted May 22, 2012 Author Posted May 22, 2012 So I have finished off the tailgate and roll pan. I have a few small blemishes to fix but nothing major. I am going to two tone it with a gunmetal and burgundy on top. I dull coated the rims and I will paint the centers gunmetal. The chassis is almost finished and the engine has been started too. Started engine and engine bay, those are the colors that will be on the truck: Chassis: Thanks for looking.
Jared Roach Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 So I have a small update, I stripped the wheels and have added the final coats of filler, now to just sand and prime. I also detailed the intake. Thanks for looking, more will come soon.
Mark R Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Looking pretty good. I like the look of the wheels with the dullcoat ! The Ford looks like it's coming along nicely too...
Jared Roach Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Thanks guys! So I have finished the engine and the wheels. I need to dull coat a couple of the engine parts, but it's pretty much done. Now I need to finish the body work and get a base coat on. I still need an interior color. Thanks for looking.
JustBill Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I like the color on the engine. The truck looks good and clean so far in primer. Good work so far.
Jared Roach Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 So I'm trying to keep this updated as often as possible so I do not lose interest in it. So far it seems to be working. I have flocked the interior and have painted the base color of it, now it needs alot of details. Coming along good so far:
Fat Brian Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I have a queation about the Ford truck, how did you do that? I have thought about cutting the nose off of a Bigfoot cab and mating it to a 92-96 cab but it looks like you took the Bigfoot cab and replaced the cut fenders with stock ones.
Jared Roach Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Thanks guys! As for that f150 I used a monogram f250 and cut it down to a reg cab/short box f150. I need to get back on it soon. So today I did a little to the interior and made a hood prop to keep the hood open. Now I need to finish the body work since it is almost ready for paint. Chassis is completely done minus shocks: Hood prop: Thanks for looking.
JustBill Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Looking good bro! I like the interior color and hood prop. Nice touch!
Jared Roach Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Thanks man! Today I did alittle tweaking to the hood prop, but that was all I had time for! Edited June 8, 2012 by Jared Roach
hotrod59f100 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Jared where did you get those wheels ? They look like the American racing wheel 1.1 wheels I had on my cavalier . Edited June 8, 2012 by hotrod59f100
Jared Roach Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Thanks but it will be these two colors: That's why I did the engine/engine bay in those colors! And as for the wheels they come in the Revell 2009 challenger srt8 kit. They are a great size for trucks since they are so big. Edited June 8, 2012 by Jared Roach
Jared Roach Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 OK so my plans fell through tonight so I sprayed the base coat on the dodge! Everything is good except the drivers side door badge decided to ghost through. I sealed and primed it but for some reason it wanted to. The passenger side is fine though. I will fix that tomorrow and spray some more base coat, then on to the second color.
