Here's a few more.

Winter in Oregon

OregonDOTBestPhotosof201115-vi.jpg

Driving through Crater Lake in Southern Oregon. This is in mid June, believe it or not.

One very scary bridge that stretches from Oregon to Washington right at the channel to the Pacific Ocean in Astoria Oregon.

This fine looking F-100 was sitting outside the Harrah's casino in Cherokee NC.

And here is more examples of my driving/photography skills. My wife hates it when I do this. This is along I-70 in Utah going through Devils Canyon.

And then on the same trip on I-70 in Kansas we came across this OCC chopper for the U.S. Army.

That's a load of snow. When I was 5 we lived in Klamath Falls (around1953). I am sure we saw snow for 9 months...at least it seemed like it. Going into Crater Lake all I could see was snow far above our car. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr. All I remember of cars was they were old (40's and early 50's) and they were always snow-mud splattered. We had a '50 Chrysler Windsor sedan at the time.

Yeah, I kind of thought that about the trucks too, but I was compelled to turn around, stop & shoot them!

Dave , If ya see the guy with the 51 Ford F-1 again, I need one of those rims . I'll trade out an N O S 15incher for that 16incher . Ed Shaver

Cool planter trucks, Dave. Even women would like those...although maybe not in the yard.

Ray; when your comment hit my email I was afraid you mean the outhouse. :o

The old Middlegate P.E. station now has a bar, restaurant, and some questionable lodging. It's every bit as craggy and old school as it gets, but they have some GREAT food there. They start preparing prime rib in the late afternoon that is to die for. Then, you can head south to Gabbs and hit the bar and play cards at the local VFW hall. Talk about living in the past. ;)

I like those trucks with all the flowers, Dave. I've been trying to convince Marcia to let me put a bathtub & toilet in the yard and fill them with flowers. She always says no. I'm going to show her your pics and hope for the best.

From the dearth of bottomless Death Valley:

To the tops of the Siera Nevada Mountains. The thin horizontal line you see along the mountainside is the snow tunnels the trains run through all year since the turn of the 20th century. They had to change the configuration of many of the big steam engines to cab forward because of the choking fumes in the miles-long tunnels.

A little closer. These re build of wood beams and heavty boards. In some places the trains go both directions inside the tunnels (sheds). Signal maintenance crews used to live in converted baggage cars along the route, and in the winter they were "sided" INSIDE the tunnels with the trains flying by them day and night.
