Skip Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Too Cool Ira, staying tuned to see how the Hog himself turns out!
Ira Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 your dragster is looking awesome. Makes me want to do another front engine car. Thanks Chad! Yeah, Love those Vintage Dragsters....
Ira Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 BiG PIPES For HOG VETTE!!! I made the Headers for Hog Vette from Thin-Wall Plastic Tubing. I cut 8 pieces and cleaned up the ends with an X-Acto Knife and Sandpaper. I painted inside the tubes with Flat Black. I made a Mounting Strip from Plastic and glued it in place. When I glue the Headers in place this will sepparate them from the body. I cut a couple more strips to cover the backs of the tubes and glued them in place. These are Ready To Go!
Ira Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 HOG VETTE BELLY!!! I Cut a Belly Pan out of Sheet Plastic and Painted it Black. Then I Cut Strips of Plastic and Glued them to the Inside of the Body. These make Mounts for attaching the Belly Pan. Here's what it looks like in place... HOG BELLY PAN...
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Again, beautiful work on that body. Moving right along, Ira. Thank You Dr.!
bryan_m Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 very cool Ira! the hog head looks great. cheers bryan
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Moving right along. I didn't notice this before until you put it into primer but I love how those panel lines carry onto the body, over the rear wheels and on the roof. I almost would rather just see it in a solid color so you don't lose all these beautiful lines but it's not gonna matter either way, it's gonna look killer. I'm excited to see it coming all together Thanks Jason! Hog Vette should be Finished Tomorrow...
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 you do some very inspirational work thanks for sharing all these detailed builds Thanks for the kind words Jeremiah!
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 (edited) I always spray a coat of clear after masking before spraying a second color on a 2 tone paint job. Works good. Good Suggestion!!! Thanks, I Lucked out this time... Edited June 4, 2012 by Ira
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 Another cool creation, Ira!! What makes you tick, or have this creativity? Seems like mine's gone out the window, or something... Sometimes you're hot and sometimes you're not...it comes and goes. When I am inspired I like to create new designs!
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 The paint looks great Ira and thanks for the info on the Squlpey. Thanks Andy! I think you'll like the Squlpey...
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 QUICK HOG MOCK-UP!!!! About 12 Hours left in the 2 Week Challenge! Here is the Hog Vette Progress so far... I Better Get Busy, I Have to go Paint a PiG!
Ira Posted June 4, 2012 Author Posted June 4, 2012 It looks quite a bit better with the added putty. I love how you seem to never be satisfied until it is just right. Thanks Ray!
Ira Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 (edited) PAINTIN' The PiG!!! I started with a coat of Dupli Color White Primer, then Brushed on some Tan Acrylic. A wash of "The Detailer - Black was then appllied. Next I painted all of the White Parts. I used the Slixx "Air Hog" for a guide when I painted the Hogs Head. Using a small fine brush I painted the Black outlines on the Hog. Hey! I found some little Red, Round Glass Beads I can use for eyes! Edited June 6, 2012 by Ira
Ira Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 TWO WEEK CHALLENGE!!! Well, this is a Mock-Up to show as far as I got in 2 weeks. It wont be long before it's done. Missed the CAR-TOONS CONTEST Deadline with this Build, but I did Finish 3 other New CAR-TOONS Models! Back to the Bench...
Bartster Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Wow! Sorry l missed this one, lra! Sorry you missed the deadline as well, but no doubt about it: You got another winner here!
Ira Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) CHECKIN' THE FIT!!! Found the pefect spot for the Hog Head, too far back and His Ears stick out the window, too far forward and His Snout hits the windshield. The Interior Plate attaches to the Chassis Plate and then it all goes in place together. Edited June 6, 2012 by Ira
John Teresi Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Ira.......these cartoon builds are cool......I gotta participate in the next one.........I think this is my favorite one
