Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Other than model cars, I like modeling WWII aircraft as well, but not from plastic kits. I build aircraft with paper, both, from scratch and from paper kits. This one, is my all time favorite aircraft, and for me, the best looking fighter ever made, the Mikoyasn Gurevich MIG-3, designed bu the MIG OKB around a monster Mikulin V12, the aircraft was super fast, but required experienced pilots, what limited it's fame and production time a lot. This model was built from a ModelArt kit, in 1:32 scale. The slogan on the fuselage says: "Za Rodinu" or "For the Motherland"
Lunajammer Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 People who can make clean, accurate, well crafted paper models like this have my undying admiration. Beautiful piece.
Chuck Most Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 That's just plain gorgeous! Being made from paper, this model would probably be about as sturdy as the real plane.
Scale-Master Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 How did you make the tires look like, well, tires? Nice work overall ltoo.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 How did you make the tires look like, well, tires? Nice work overall ltoo. The tires were built with super glue and paper. I just cut several paper circles, glued they together untill they were the correct size. Then I drilled the ecnter, and used a Dremel and sanding paper to "machine" the tire round form. The finished product was then painted flat black.
