In a heartbeat and much much more.

My wife, ( along with my 2 daughters ) is my life, and I have no interest to be on this world without her or them.

Maybe contact some cancer association, and set up a auction during one of their events. Bigger is the association, more people will be there, and more money will be raised.

I did a similar thing for a local big association were a friend of mine belong. Every year they have a charity dinner auction, so I ask my friend what she though about one of my model (military diorama), that was connected on what the association represented. She was very excited about it, also because it was different than the other things they usually auctioned, but historically very important. Of course I was very happy, also after they told me how much money they raised with it.

I would definitely get involved with something like this.

I would be on board for something like this. If we want to get serious about doing this we need to get a workable plan together to present to the various organizations. Some groups have charity auctions already so maybe we could do a cbp and then turn the finished models over to the organization to be included in the auction. We would need to know who to send them to and when they need to be there to be included in the auction. Since the object of a charity auction is not necessarily the quality of the product purchased but donating to the charity anyone should be able to participate since a contest quality build isn't really the point. I wonder if the NNL would be interested in doing this at the various contests accross the country. That would eliminate the logistics of shipping the models which may arrive broken and the bidders could pick up their purchase in person. Vehicles intended for the charity auction could be put on display in a certain area and at a given time the auction is held and the money collected and the models given to their new owners. Then the event officals can just turn over a chack directly to the selected charity. The bids for models might be higher from model people than the general public and we would just be making a straight donation to the given charity. I don't know, just spitballin' here.

I like the idea of working with the several NNLs. I believe they're all independent, but perhaps they could coordinate some effort.

I do think the idea of a show-quality build, though, is a good thing. While people are primarily about giving money, they should be given some return for their money.

Perhaps for a CBP, all participants can build, and we can use the board as the coordination point?

If we as a board wanted to do a charity auction we could set it up with ebay, they have a framework in place for creating listings and getting the proceeds to the approved charity. We could do a cbp and when it's over each person who participated would have to send their project to a point person who would make the listings and be responsible for getting the items shipped out to the auction winners. I still believe anyone could participate though, I wouldn't want to say that if you're not a master builder you can"t contribute. Here is a link to the Giving Works rules: http://pages.ebay.co...-nonprofit.html

If this plan starts to get serious we should clear it with Greg.

I think this would be a great idea but.......................would they sell? I mean even if everyone cranks out "pro-built" level work, they are still all going to be pink. Would they sell?

That is why I still believe that doing this as part of a model contest or show would be best, that way the crowd is model people and would probably be most likely to bid a decent amount especially for a nicely built item. It also eliminates the tricky shipping phase of the transaction.

My wife is my life. Whatever it takes, Period.

Let's keep looking as to how we can turn these builds into money for research. I'm definately in.
