Dr. Cranky Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Feeling a bit nostalgic this year about being away from the West Coast now for almost 25 years of my life, away from the car scene I grew up in and the surfin' scene in Southern Cal, so I am thinking a thread where we can post all things SUMMER would be cool. Of course, bring on the models, in particular those of you who've done surfing vehicles, but it could also include Dioramas, etc . . . Can you smell those burgers cooking? It's time to get tanned driving around that topless jalopy on the way to and from the beach . . .
trogdor Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 I've got nothing model related but this is a subject near and dear to my heart. How about my smoker I built ?

Bartster Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 (edited) This should be a great thread, Doc! Hopefully it'll bring out some great woodies. I have one near completion & one on the drawing board. Surely there are more woodie fans out there? Edited June 6, 2012 by Bartster
Ira Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 WOODY For FREDDY!!! I'm Working on a CAR-TOONS WOODY Right Now....
Dr. Cranky Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 LOL, this is headed in the right direction. My 20 year old smoker has finally rusted through, so it is time to get another. I love cooking out and I don't do it often enough, and EYEGORE needs more BBQ!

Dr. Cranky Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 One place: PREISER. They make lots of great stuff, including the Adam and Eve set. Expensive but exquisite detail.
Mercman Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) Here's a pic of a jigsaw puzzle I did. Make for a great diorama. Rumor has it Moeibus is releasing Mel's Drive-In in 1/87th scale. Edited June 7, 2012 by Mercman
zenrat Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Looking good. What's up with the paint on that Charger Junior? I've built a '68 which has cracked under the clear and looks similar! And while you're all enjoying summer bear us in mind down here please as we slide into winter. 13 degrees C today but it appears to have stopped raining. Strangly identical to Londons current summer weather...

Tye Brown Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Nothing better then screaming over the sand in one of these man
Tye Brown Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 We don't have a beach at the moment man. It's winter here now man & we got a hell of a storm blow in.This was my local yesterday, I don't think the buggy will get through this dude lol
wisdonm Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) I had thought of making my 39 Sports Wagon a surfin wagon. That will be another version. My mate in Australia made these surfboards for me. They are in transit right now. I am a Kansas City Barbeque Society certified contest judge. Tomorrow I go on safari to judge, and eat, BBQ Friday and Saturday. Edited June 7, 2012 by wisdonm
Bartster Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Nice boards. l'm from K.C. originally, wish l were there now! Not to fear, though. l brought all my recipes with me! Teaching Texans how to do REAL BBQ now!
Dr. Cranky Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Nice, and yes, Driveins were part of my summer life when I was a kid.
Greg Myers Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 What. On earth. Is 'Summer'? It's kinda like hell.
