SFRC Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 (edited) Hi all, I am new to this forum. Most builds I see are kits and resin. I mostly use diecast models to modify but I think I can learn a lot of what you guys are doing. To kick off I'll share some pics of a couple of Austin Healeys I modified. Just to make them look as close as possible to the original car. Here is the base model which came out quite recently. The Le Mans style boot is not on the acutual car so that had to go. SFRC Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 The interior of the base model was changed as well as this car is used for classic races and rallies. Also added a roll cage
SFRC Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 This is the original car And here the finished model
Lanny Haas Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Wow looking good. diecast, plastic, resin. its still a modeling. I like this.....Great weathering too..
Draggon Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Nice! Much better than the original, love your weathering too.
Austin T Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I always liked the Healey's and bug eyed sprite's,Kinda have to considering I was named after Austin Motor company. My dad said he wanted a Sprite but got me instead.
SFRC Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 Well I don't have any kids but a '66 MGB and a '71 Alfa Romeo Giulia Super... And a '79 Volvo 245 just to carry spare parts like engines.
Foxer Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Very nice. I'm a Healey lover from way back and especially love the white/grey one. There were many that color combo here in the States. I should probably get over my scale bias and go for some diecasts .. there's just too many of the cars I love there
AzTom Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Very nice! All of your cars look nice, you have some great modeling skills. Tom
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Beautiful builds all, and very fine conversion work on the first one. I've always loved the big Healeys, especially the engine sound from the driver's seat.
Harry P. Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Ok... I know nothing about these cars... but that headlight arrangement? With the inner ones actually faired into the bodywork? Really?
SFRC Posted June 23, 2012 Author Posted June 23, 2012 Yep, check this site for some old photo's http://www.donbarrow.co.uk/autobiography_stage2.html
