foxbat426 Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I don't think i could physically paint any smaller - on these particular tires the letters were very small - painted them with a pinhead and a glass of wine!! They didn't come out that great, but i'm leaving them alone. Should I paint the "Steel belted Radial" part also???
hemi Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 If it were me I would paint the rest.I know those tires can be a pita to letter.
foxbat426 Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 Thanks hemi i will, i wasn't sure if it was correct to highlight the steel belted radial part, but now i will.
foxbat426 Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) no casey - i find that the enamel works better for some reason - it's thicker and a bit easier to control Edited June 24, 2012 by foxbat426
Casey Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Don't use the oil-based enamel on tires- it will never dry, and will always be tacky. Always use a water-based acrylic on model kit vinyl tires. I would suggest you wipe the painted RWLs off carefully with some mineral spirits. I have always had good luck painting those letters with a toothpick and some patience.
foxbat426 Posted June 24, 2012 Author Posted June 24, 2012 ok casey - i didn't know that - thx for the tip for sure buddy. yes mineral spirits takes it right off and you know what they are still tacky from last night! john

Ace-Garageguy Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I'm not familiar with the "pinhead and a glass of wine" technique. Could you post a tutorial on that?
