jcbigpaw Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) Since we all have so much spare time and there aren't nearly enough CBPs I'm gonna propose another. I'm calling it the "Odd Rods" because I'd like to push us all in a different direction. What im picturing are hot rod/muscle cars that are not what we normally think of. For this CBP I'm proposing that we skip the Camaros, Mustangs, Corvettes and duece coupes we all love and put something out of the norm onto the table. Maybe an Edsel gasser or a full blown Jaguar. How about a Mini Cooper with an LS engine (dont know if thats even doable) or maybe a Rat Rod made from a Duesenberg. Something different. If there's enough interest then Ive got a BMW 635 sedan I've been thinking about doing up with a blown small block Chevy V8 with all the fixings. If not I'll put it in "on the workbench". Let me know what you think Edited June 24, 2012 by jcbigpaw
Chuck Most Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 What if you want to start with a 'conventional' car, say a '57 Chevy or something like that, and just build it in an unconventional manner? Maybe something along these lines-
91blaze Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I've got an Edsel I could make into a gasser. Of course, I still need to finish my Zombie build, so it may be a while before I can get started.
Foxer Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) Or something like this? .. from a computer mouse cover .. Edited June 24, 2012 by Foxer
blazefox Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Ive seen ones like those. You use the back like a roadster
CorvairJim Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I'm already building a mid-engine V-8 powered Corvair for the Gumball Rally CBP, but I might be able to do a front-engine V-8 job for this one if I can find the time with all the OTHER CBP's I'm involved with at the moment!
patami Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Im in whit a build that i like to call The Frog rod. It s based on a 1936 Delahaye 135. It will be fenderless and maybe choped dont now yet about the chop thou.
91blaze Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Too bad more people won't join this build, it could get interesting with all the crazy minds around here. Anyways, here's the mockup for my Edsel Gasser. Being my first gasser, I think I got the stance right. What do you guys think?
Chuck Most Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I'd push that front axle forward just a liiiiiiiiiitle bit more, but other than that, the stance looks good!
91blaze Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Thanks, I'll try to remember that when I start working on the suspension.
Chuck Most Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Any photos of the front of that Fury ? None that I have.
jcbigpaw Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 I love that Fury roadster Chuck. I've looked all over the web and can't find anything on it. That's something I'd like on my shelf.
