BOSWELL891 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Looks good so far, I need to build on of these kits soon
espo Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Looks real good. How were you thinking to cut off the tutone? It might look good at the top body break or if it fits with your custom idea you could blend in a color on the raised part of the body sides. Look forward to seeing this one thru .
Custom Mike Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Love these old Fairlanes, I've got a few more '66's to build myself someday. I did a '66 a few years ago with a two-tone fade, give this a shot!
crazyjim Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Oh yeah. Next build, Mike. SHINY :) RULES! After seeing Mike's 2 tone, Shane, I have to say go for a 2 tone. I don't think I've ever built that Fairlane kit - any good?
slammedi'am Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 If I 2 tone it I will probably run it on the side below the where the handles were.... That looks good Mike...I have a 66 GT that will be started on after this one
slammedi'am Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Havent messed with any much this week but managed to get the suspension set up on it,top part of my 2 tone(still gotta wet sand and stripe) and the engine almost done..
Grumpa Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 This is lookin' real good Shane. I love the color combo. What are you doing with the interior?
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 When you first said "two tone" I really didn't think I was going to like it. Especailly with the shaved handles and emblems, this car has such good lines and proportions it doesn't need much to look outstanding. BUT, what you came up with works great on this body style and really makes an attention-grabbing model. Interesting, unusual color choices, and I like the dark on the top. Nice ideas.
01blueedge Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 you are doing a good job on this one I am liking the two tone and the wheels. I have a few of the kits I need to get out and do something with
slammedi'am Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 Thanks everyone....I was kinda weary on the way I did the 2 tone at first but came out real nice..
Custom Mike Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) Great colors Shane, are you going to do a pinstripe between the colors? If so, what color do you have in mind? And great work on the engine! I don't think I've ever built that Fairlane kit - any good? Jim, it's a good kit, the only issues I had were the inner fender wells and front suspension height. The inner fender wells need to be shaved a bit on the bottom sides (Along with the firewall) so the body fits down over the chassis correctly, and they need shock mounts added. The kingpins need to be modified so it doesn't have a Gasser stance, but everything else in this kit is very well done. Edited July 10, 2012 by Custom Mike

nboldman Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 What color is the gray if you dont mind me asking? btw stellar build so far!
Harold Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Really nice. I think the two toning gives it a bit more visual length. I also like the color-keyed engine.
slammedi'am Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 Heres some pics of the stripe Im thinking about doing...Also got the motor done and in...The top color is actually silver for Honda cars
