I know many of you are in the grips of a nasty heat wave across the country with temps in the triple digits. We have it here also in N. Dak but not like some of you guys. So just thought I'd remind everyone to take it easy out there, and stay hydrated. Drink lots of water, and take a break when you need it. Heat stress is no fun. I know from experience.

Well it's 108 here friday, and in the plant at work the thermometer hit 48 celcius which is app 130 F sure am glad i don't work in the plant but i do feel sorry for the few that do

Marcia told me it's 90 with a heat index of 103. Not bad for Florida in July. If/when I need to paint, I just turn on the AC in the shop.

This is in the shade on my front porch. Yesterday we hit 102F. We haven't had any measurable amounts of rain at all this summer. Grass is dead, leaves are dying on the trees & the farmers crops are dying.

About 2 hours ago (1pm), we had 100 in the shade, 103 in the sun, and 135 inside a car parked in the sun. Yes, I took a thermometer outside :) Funny thing is that it feels cooler today than it did last weekend. The heat has really put the brakes on my modeling projects!

Todd!

You ever slip down to Brookville for the fried chicken (is it even still there)?

How 'bout the Cozy? Is it still running?

B)

Haven't been to Cozy for a couple years. Brookville motel and chicken is in Abilene now.

No kidding? See what happens when you miss a few annual trips over a few decades? You lose touch.

My family once had a farm near Bennington ... next to the Eisenhowers (brother of the pres) farm.

All my Kansas family members are gone many years now and we haven't made the trek in probably 20 years ...

A visit to Salina always required one of each ... my parents met at Cozy and Sundays were always Brookville's Chicken dinners ...

Thanks for the info. Was just curious.

Yesterday it finally cooled down enough to consider some outdoor activity, so I decided to take a walk into town. The reason for the cooler temperature soon became apparent and I spent three hours stuck in a coffe shop waiting for the torential downpour to abbate. Then the sun came back out and I got to walk the three miles back home though the steaming mud.

I drove to the coffe shop this morning.

105 here right now, heading to 107-109.

It'll be 110 + during the work week. Naturally, activities this week require a suit and tie.................................

Danno,

I'm on the outskirts of Arvada, in the foothills of the Front Range.

We started the month here in the high nineties, which at least is better than the triple digits we had the week before. Of course, I can't really complain about that, since I was in San Diego at the time, where it never got above 78. B)
