MustangGuy23 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 First off, really sorry if this is in the wrong spot! But to the point. I've recently decided to do some scratch building, but my local hobby shops have a very, very, very poor selection of styrene. Like 1 sheet of white and some random tubing. So my question is where is the best place to buy styrene sheets and tubing from? I really don't wanna pay $15 for shipping either! Thanks!
91blaze Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Ebay is good and the shipping isn't that high. Just go to the "Toys and Hobbies" section then to Models. Search styrene rods, tubes, sheets or whatever else you need here.
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 91blaze is absolutely right. If you buy several items and be sure to buy from a seller who combines shipping, you should come out okay.
91blaze Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 (edited) I just recently got supplies from Phil's Hobby Shop on Ebay. He's a little slow to ship but has good prices. He is based out of Fort Wayne but it took a week to get to me in Pendleton. That's my only complaint so far. Also he has free shipping for purchases over $50. Edited July 10, 2012 by 91blaze
vintagestang Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 For tubing and rod go to your local hardware store.
rel14 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 You would be amazed at what you can find in the house,, Clear Plastic is every where, Plastic sturring sticks for coffee(7-11), plastic tubing on metal paper clips, Styrene, i buy at the hobby shop...and alot...
LDO Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 King's Hobby in Austin has a big selection. Give them a call: 512-836-7388.
The70judgeman Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 You can try www.modelempireusa.com . I don't know how much shipping would be as Model Empire is one of my LHS's and I can buy right off the rack. They have an online catalog on their site, or an actual catalog that can be sent to you.
mopar68 Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 I got a decent order from Strada Sports a while ago, postage I cannot remember other than it was pretty good from there to here in Aus. They have a pretty good range too- http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page120.html
Foxer Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 A lot of people use store bought signs for sheet styrene, like FOR SALE signs.

southpier Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 some free shipping, some token charge, but i always figure gas & my time are worth something. http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_seeall_32?rh=k%3Ahobby+styrene%2Ci%3Atoys-and-games&keywords=hobby+styrene&ie=UTF8&qid=1341970032
