martinfan5 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Here is my next NASCAR project, I am going to build Kurt Busch #54 Monster Nationwide Camry, going to use a AMT COT kit. Here is what the car looks like Decals are from Stoneys decals , here is the body, first step is to strip it Edited July 18, 2012 by martinfan5
bbowser Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I'll be watching with interest Jonathan. I've got a similar project going converting the AMT COT to a 2011 version, Tony Stewart.

bbowser Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Nah, I don't usually do WIP's because it might be months between updates. I'm basically going by Mark J's WIP on his #2 Charger for the lower valance. Hasn't been too hard so far.

Looking forward to seeing it done, here is the body now that it has been stripped, now the hard part starts, turning a chevy into a toyota, time to get out the bondo. The nose is going to be reworked, I have to lover the rear fender, I have to change the rear side window, and make a rear spoiler.
martinfan5 Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 I have been making some progress on this one, just I have skipped the boring in bondo pics up tell this point, here is how it looks now , as you can see its still rough, but getting there, I should of before I started putting the bondo on was to heat up the top part of the nose and lower it some. I am not going to be able to get the slope of the nose correct now, but it will be close And also reshaping the rear windows
W-409 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Starting to take shape very well! Even if I don't like that Tojota came in NASCAR Tracks, this will be very interesting build to follow. You do great job, keep at it.
martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Been working on the chassis, and here it is on its wheels, not finished with the chassis, but getting there, I am adding the roll bars that were left out. I still need to paint the exhaust pipes, just on there for the pic
martinfan5 Posted July 27, 2012 Author Posted July 27, 2012 Almost done with this one, I am not happy with how it looks, but I learned something for the next time if I decide to do another Camry conversion
Art Laski Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Nice job, Jonathan! That's going to be a sharp-looking car.
Honda446 Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 great job! the Monster car is a pretty cool car and the work you had to do to make a Camry out of an Impala is coming along very well. can't wait to see the finished product. what's next on your agenda?
martinfan5 Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 Thanks guys, I am almost done with this one, I am going to remake the rear spoiler then I will be ready to post some pics. Up next NASCAR wise, I am going to be doing Danica's Nationwide car, and doing another one of Erine Irvans rides

Will it be a long term relationship, or just a one-time thing?
