I'm just wondering if anyone here has (stashed or built) the R&C Trucking transkit for the Ertl Paystar 5000. It was produced during the mid to late '90's, and consisted of the newer-style 'aero' nose, a different cab, and some interior parts, among other things.

What I'm wondering is twofold- first of all, how good was the casting quality? And second, I haven't seen any R&C products listed for sale in a long time, so I am assuming the original caster is out of business, but was it ever cast by anyone else?

Well, 'aero' for a Paystar, anyway. B) It's the later-style, somewhat more streamlined front end International used in the '90's. The hood is similar to the one in the link, but has single headlamps. That one might be workable if I can't find the R & C kit, and don't feel like modifying the Ertl kit parts.

I believe it was a Clint Freeman kit. It was offered as a complete (cab, hood, dash, etc), and later as just the hood. I have one downstairs. I'll dig it up and get some pictures.

Check out "SourKraut’s Model Trucks" . I just bought a hood conversion kit from his web site which includes the hood, headlight buckets, grille, a cab visor, battery box, dash and a few other assorted parts. It was $47.00 plus $12.00 shipping and handling.

Here are a couple pics of what it consist of. (It is supposed to have the tapered lower left and right hand side cab extensions but they were not in my kit. His web site photo does show them included but he has not responded to my e-mails regarding the missing parts.)

Chuck, do you mean R&K Resins? If you do, Rick is still around, and he is starting casting again. He did tell me that most of the molds from R&K went to Dave at AITM. So, Dave might actually have the mold for the hood.

Looks like I've got a few choices for what I'm after, or at least a few sources. Thanks, guys!

Jim- I'm not sure about R&K- I saw the transkit listed in an old issue of 'Truck Stop' in SAE ( a 1996 issue I think)and it was reffered to as being cast by a company called R&C Trucking.

R&C trucking was the company Clint Freeman did with another guy (can't remember his name) before Clint went on to form CFC. Some of the R&C stuff ended up in the CFC line. CFC went out of business in 2005.

I think Mo'luminum also offered a version of this hood at one time as well.
